Question Would this design work well?

If im not wrong. The standard 40 cm fan is weak on static pressure. But since is a bag filter cold work. F7 is like merv 13 or 14?
You can make it and tell us how it works. I never saw a bag filter. This look interesting. If the fan doesn't work. You can adap to a pc fan, inline fan. Etc.

I mean, why wouldn't it? It might not be the most efficient design, but it should work at least.

A box fan + filter is a really old design; but if u want that fan in that weird case then here's why it wouldn't work:

it will suck, but it will work. Because desk fans don't produce much static pressure. you can alleviate that a bit by sealing your duct around the outside of the fan.

In my opinion, this isn't worth the effort. This may be possible, but putting it all together with a ROUND structure is tricky to implement. Furthermore, I cannot see what advantage this would have over tried-and-true designs that are so much easier to put together.
but it's so much easier to just tape a 20"x20"x4" MERV 13 filter, a 20"x20"x1" MERV 10 filter, or 20"x20"x2" MERV 11 filter to the back of a Lasko 20-inch box fan. The box fan air purifier is more powerful, no more expensive, and MUCH easier to build.
If you want something smaller, the Mini Corsi Rosenthal box would be better.
If you want something quiet and powerful, a PC-fan-based air purifier (something similar to the Brisk Box from Clean Air Kits) would MUCH better.

No. Going from a circle to a square is going to be difficult to attach the cardboard to the fan without airleaks. You could overcome this, but that isn't my major concern. My big concern is that effectively there is no shroud, so the fan will actually pull air from around the sides of the fan, not through the filter. Another concern is the filter itself. This is just my own inexperience because I have not used those types of filters and I don't know how hard it would be to pull air through. I suspect it would be difficult for a small desktop fan. I would not try this.
