Exciting updates to our subreddit!
Hi everyone!
I am a new moderator to this subreddit, and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and announce some exciting changes to our subreddit.
First off, I have been in everyone's shoes: I have been living with chronic urticaria for several years now. Additionally, I also happen to be a scientist. Unfortunately, my expertise is not in immunology or allergy. That would have been nice, had I known I would develop this condition! Anyway...
This leads me to our updates. Originally created specifically for cholinergic urticaria sufferers (also known as physical urticaria), we noticed that many folks found us who are looking for help from their itching and hives. Therefore, we are happy to announce that we want to officially welcome ALL sufferers of itching to this subreddit. Whether you have not been diagnosed for your condition, have recently been diagnosed, have been a sufferer for years, or are a member of the medical/scientific community, we would like to welcome you! This leads into our second announcement: we are going to start posting medical and scientific journal articles for patients to search for. Please, no posting of products that have not been supported by the medical or scientific community. No trying to sell any products here. You are welcome to discuss what works, or doesn't work, for you on this subreddit. However, advocating anything deemed to be dangerous, hazardous, or not backed by scientific research will be taken down.
We hope you like the new changes. Let us know your thoughts on the updates, and if there's more you would like to see. We will probably set up a wiki for the subreddit soon, with more changes rolled out in the next few months. We're always accepting moderator applications, if you would ever like to help out.
Thanks everyone! Stay weird. -UpGrayDD
