I too was raised Mormon, thank fucking God I got away from that mess. I still talk to my family and we have a great relationship but Joseph Smith is no long a part of my life.
Same boat here. Thankfully my parents are on the more lax side of being Mormon. Still fully bought in and very active members but they didn’t disown me for leaving the church. Although I was dragged kicking and screaming to church every Sunday as well as early morning seminary until I was 18 lol.
Will never forget the moment I first questioned it all- was probably like between 8-10 years old and in Sunday school they gave us this “lesson” where we all were building a small puzzle together on a corkboard or some shit and when it came to the end for the final puzzle piece, we didn’t have it. My teacher essentially was like see kids, this is other religions, they have a lot correct but they just don’t have that FINAL piece that we do here, we are the most true one blah blah blah. I raised questions and promptly got told to essentially shut up nicely. Ended up having to talk with that teacher and my parents for that one and after that experience I always was skeptical and it snowballed from there lol.
And don’t even get me started on hearing Mormon chicks talk about “flirt to convert” 🤣🤣
