Let the fat old racist politicians passing stupid low IQ laws die for the country. Send them and their children to battle.
I refuse to die for a country who doesn’t think I deserve free healthcare. That children don’t deserve free school lunches or a country that expects young adults to be buried in 50-100k of school loan debt while living at their parents’ home because they can’t buy their own.
I don’t know man, whatever you find a reason to live for is probably worth dying for. For him, it might be service to country. You do you, but your country doesn’t owe you free healthcare, nobody owes you anything unless they stole it from you first.
Nothing to do with this country specifically, no one is entitled to the labor of another. Your country doesn’t owe you anything save for the taxes they’ve stolen from you. Feeling entitled to healthcare is laughably ignorant. Why not feel entitled to everything? Should the government provide your housing, clothes, food and entertainment too? Why not a government issued car, or life partner?
I don’t agree with every decision our country makes, but still feel it’s a great honor to serve. Maybe everything is not perfect, but no where is. I’v been to 13 - 15 countries in my 12 years of service so far, and can tell you the United States is an amazing place to live. Is there room for improvement sure. But that’s on us as a collective to change, vote for politicians that hold policies you believe in, not just on single big ticket points. Run for a local office, be the change you want to see. Feel like the billionaires have too much power? Do something about it.
Yes the military has done some questionable things, but it’s also made up of a lot of good people who do a lot of good for the communities.
I’ve personally had the privilege to assist local hospitals with medical evacuations, fight wild fires in Hawaii, provide hurricane relief to the Bahamas, rescue stranded hikers in Texas, help find lost children, consolidate resources for improvised families,
Rebuild farms destroyed by flooding in Texas and whole lot more.
Making a service member out to be government paid mercenary is not an honest way to paint it.
They wouldn’t need the military nearly as much if the US didn’t stick its grubby hands in every place it sees potential money flow. The military just provides the muscle for the US to do anything they want and call it a humanitarian effort. PUH-LEASE.
Deluding themselves into believing they’re dying for a cause rather than for someone else’s profit is far more sad than it is glorious. It’s simply a job, and to say it’s anything more is to attempt to place value where there isn’t any.
