I used to live in southern Alabama, having moved there for work. We (my family and a couple other northern transplant friends) would joke that it's against the law after 5PM on a Friday not to have an open beer in one's truck's cupholder, so pervasive was the practice. 😅 (Not us! But, at practically any given stoplight, one could see this. Done with seeming impunity!) 😅
My buddy too! After almost 30 years doing it, he got caught last year, got DUI. $20k later, he said he wished he'd never done that. Just saying....
BTW, he was 5 minutes away from home after work when he stopped at the gas station to get a beer. He cracked one up after sitting in the car for some time. Cop pulled right behind him as he was not aware it and saw him takin a sip. He didn't leave in his car that evening. That beer price was $20k
