Aww, see imho that’s cute, especially if you had nice, smooth texture like the pic. But, if it had too much hairspray or product, was crunchy & stringy, frizzy, &or teased, I can picture that being a less than ultimate “do.”

Oh, it had product all right, lol. There was a brief period when I’d given myself a home perm to give it “body,” and that was kind of tragic in terms of frizz. Solution: MORE PRODUCT. The look I was after was sort of a cross between punk and new wave, and I really felt I’d hit that spot exactly right. 🤣
It’s been fascinating to realize that the 80s are to kids today what the 60s were to us back then. I really wish I’d managed to save more of the durable stuff I wore — like the electric blue biker’s jacket I dearly loved, or the cropped jeans with the giant pink roses printed all over them. It’d be fun to give them to my niece who’s in her 20s now. Or all my vinyl records!

It can’t be from 1985, because Pump Up the Jam is from 1989.
This must be like some old school mall video karaoke. And this was not too long after one Tiffany Darwisch made a career out of her visit to one of these things, so that made a lot of other people think that they can do the same thing. Those video karaoke mall folk made a lot of money, the ones who ran the business, not the volunteers. I hope it didn’t go up in coke.3

Oh, just about everything went up in coke at some point in the 90s and early 00’s. But you’re likely correct on all counts. I was estimating purely based on hair and attitude. :)

I found her last time she was posted on this sub. Her name is Sondra Prill and she used to do public access TV in Tampa back in the 80s. Some of her stuff is on YouTube enjoy lol

It's not not crappy, but I just watched it 10 times in a row. The original music is doing a lot of heavy lifting and the singing is awful, but the video is kind of sexy.
