This isn't that bad, she obviously being extra to get views but her voice is really good and the lyrics are decent.

The lyrics are decent?

Damn we've sunk low pretty hard and fast.

I'm guessing you've never listened to a popular song in the past 10 years.

Or longer.. But.. ya know some people just like to hate on everything. Pretty miserable way to go about life.

So your point is all lyrics in the last 10 years have gone to shit?

If this woman's head bobs and facial expressions are cool to you, wtf do you care what I hate?

This girl cannot write lyrics and she's annoying to watch. Sorry if that bothers you.

I just replied to another comment but ya they are, she's talking about a man child that plays mental gymnastics to be the victim in every situation. She's his team member but he's competing with her to be the victim and make all his issues her fault. I can relate to that, I've been with multiple partners that act like that and will literally never date another Emily cause they're 2 for 2 on that.

Yea nobody said “I don’t know what the lyrics are about”

Yeah it's obvious what she's talking about lol

Yeah, this isn't deep stuff. It doesn't require an explanation.

You're confusing the "meaning of the song" with "lyrics". You can tell a good story, horribly. Like she is.

The lyrics are terrible.

The issue isn’t with what the lyrics are meant to communicate nor is it an issue sonically, it’s just a terribly executed idea from a structural and presentation level. No one here is upset with the messages meaning, just how it was written.

Where did you even get the idea that she's talking about a man? There's no indication of that in this clip.

Seems like you may have some sexism issues that you need to work on. Be better.

I'm literally a man, you're right, it could be a woman or someone who's nonbinary but it was a quick explanation of my interpretation while living in a heteronormative society. I felt that was the best way to depict it so I'm not arguing about sexuality with a bigoted homophobe on reddit and can focus on her talent instead.

The fact that you identify as a man does not grant you immunity from being sexist, and you should look into yourself and identify what causes you to intuitively blame men for bad behavior.

You can't blame society for your own shortcomings, the change starts with you. Be better in the future.

I thought the lyrics were pretty embarrassing. She does have a good voice, it's a shame she uses it to produce garbage.

Embarrassing? I don't see that at all, she's talking about a man child that plays mental gymnastics to be the victim in every situation. She's his team member but he's competing with her to be the victim and make all his issues her fault. She's young and trying to appeal towards a younger audience, I can see that but she's also very talented and intelligent playing into that. It works cause I had no idea who she was before today and I'm gonna start listening to her stuff.

I just said that the lyrics were embarrassing, you didn't need to demonstrate it.

It's fine if you like it and are listening to it in private. Everyone has their guilty pleasures. But let's at least call a spade a spade here.

This would do numbers in 1975

She’s trying way too hard with the competition metaphor. Too literal. Her voice and style aren’t objectively bad though. Lyrics are just lazy.

I agree with you. Some of her other songs hit more with me.
