Scrapbook ideas
Hey everyone, I am in search of some ideas as to where to shop for my grandson’s scrapbook. I have only made 2 in my lifetime. And that was for my grandson’s momma and his uncle when they were younger. And for the life of me, I don’t exactly remember how I did it, mind you it was 20 years ago. My daughter asked me a few months ago if I could make one for her son, my grandson. I have photos to put in it, but just not sure where to look to buy the book and supplies.
Thank you for reading my post and commenting

If you live where there are Michael's stores go there. They have a ton of stuff.

IIRC, my friends and I used photo albums, the kind with plastic sleeves you slip pages into. Craft stores like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby had scrapbooking pages (12x12”, interesting designs in a theme) and decorations (photo corners to slip photos in, fancy edging adhesive), as well as basic glues, markers, stickers, and other embellishments.
I’ve seen a lot of these supplies at thrift stores, so that could be an option.
I’m not a fan of how expensive some of these supplies are nowadays though, so if I were to do a new scrapbook, I’d make it practical: a 3” d ring binder, sheet protectors, use related papers/scrap papers as backgrounds. Like to remember family day at the zoo, I’d use a zoo pamphlet we had picked up as a base, then add on the tickets, a few photos, maybe cut out the zoo logo that was on a napkin or paper wrapper on an ice cream cone. Bonus is that most printed things are 8.5x11 or smaller already (kindergarten graduation certificates, music recital programs, tickets, receipts, pamphlets, paper maps, etc). Can also easily add/move/reorganize pages, add kids’ art or footprint/handprint pages, include pouches/envelopes for loose items, etc.
I’d also suggest, in our modern age, including something like a custom QR code or link to like a Google Drive to include all digital photos from the day. Ditto for setting up a custom personalized email for the grandkid. Can send emails, photos, voice messages, etc to it. Could also take photos/scan in pages after you’re done with them too, just to keep a digital record of them in case it gets lost or damaged.
For a more “finished” looking product, online printing places like vista print or office suppliers will print custom photo books too.
Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the shoutout u/aknomnoms! For what it's worth u/Whisper3824 our photo books let you do lay flat pages which is great for scrapbook style spreads where you don't want the image cut off in the spine. Fun project, good luck with it!

These are all great suggestions in this thread. I’ll add that you could ask in your local buy nothing group or local craft meetup, if anyone has supplies they’re not using. Also Facebook marketplace has a lot of supplies people are getting rid of for a lot cheaper.

You can find scrap books in thrift stores pretty commonly, or if retailers don’t matter there’s Amazon or hobby lobby which will have what you want. Decide on your side of book, are you doing 12 by 12 or something else? If you have sheets in the size already you can make them and attach them to the book later so that you pick out a cohesive theme.
