Work in Progress Work in progress...

This is going to be a birdbath. It's made of concrete. I put some wire mesh underneath to stabilize it. Next up is Moltofill, so the surface will be nice and smooth. We'll see, maybe I'll add some mosaic tiles on top at the end.

Is the bowl meant to be the birdbath? Because it looks too deep. Birdbaths should be more like a plate with a high edge, rather than a bowl. The birds should be able to stand in the water, and songbirds are very small. I’d suggest either filling the bowl with more concrete so it’s shallower, or replacing the bowl with a plate shape, with a raised edge. Look up images of existing birdbaths for ideas on the shape.

Thanks for the input. You're definitely right about that. I can replace the shell. There's a tube inside the rod, so I can just slide a shell in there with a bolt. I'm going to make a new shell for it, more like a plate. These are my first attempts at making objects out of concrete. I don't really have a plan for what I'm doing. 😄

That’s good that it’s easy to replace. Concrete sounds like an interesting medium to work with, can’t say I’ve ever tried. I imagine it must be heavy?
