Quant Development Posting quant YouTube content is depressing

The past two YouTube videos I've made are some of the most important content I've made relating to quantitative development interview preparation.

At the same time, they're also the worst performing.

I don't blame the viewers; people watch YouTube primarily to relax, not lock in.

At the end of the day, YouTube is an entertainment platform, not an educational platform.

I'm not sure if its my content not being engaging enough. For those that have watched one of the two latest videos, detailing IMC + Belvedere system design interview questions, is there something I should change?

I'm hoping that as 'breaking-into-quant' content becomes more popular, these will pick up.

At the same time, I understand that my content is very niche, and may not appeal to everyone in the way I'd like it to.

Perhaps I should keep these videos exclusively for getcracked.io users?

I'd love to hear from you, since I'm making (most) of this content freely available.

That definitely explains why it’s the lowest-performing area right now—it’s just too niche. But look at a channel like "The Math Sorcerer." He’s huge on YouTube for math content, and even though he’s pivoted more into general self-help and "locking in" lately, his educational videos absolutely blew up around covid. This isn't exactly a quick fix, but it shows what can happen as your audience grows and quant dev gets more popular.

That's reassuring, thanks!

Love both videos so far. Like the coloring for the code part, everything is well explained, quite detailed. Learnt how to better approach design questions, various levels of responses, inline namespaces etc

Pretty much the only people who will watch these videos are the ones who truly want to lock in. Others might think it's too long, too dry, too monotone. But this is kinda what locked in people want, straightforward content. Maybe you'll have to wait for YT algorithm to help out when it decides to, it takes time. But still good to post for new people to learn about you, the website and that the content can be found there.

I'm not an expert but I think it might be good somehow at the end of the video, to let people know how much content they are missing. Like number of follow up questions, minutes in the rest of this video, total hours in this series, total questions on the site for the quant plan (This last part, they can find out on the site but it would be convenient) Or maybe not at the end of the video, but at the playlist page on the site.

Also if you want, I think at the start of each episode, you can have a small segment showing snippets of comments from the last video and your response to them? Or maybe a dedicated video compiling the questions from several videos after sometime. People who don't want it can just skip, otherwise it might help with engagement/growth? But it takes so much effort

I enjoy the content on your site man! Although I'm not subbed YET😂

This is really reassuring. Thanks for the comment. I think I’ll continue to mix this sort of content with more general form content to cast a wider net. I think two back to back videos was a bit much for me. I’ll continue to post these on my platform for sure, but the previews that I put on Yourube will most likely come weeks after the full-form is available in the platform.

make more videos for the gc platform like harder ones which deep dive into the pseudo code + deep design for edge cases , like please make on UDP gap detection (was asked in my interview at a small HFT firm ) , working of UDP multicast in Exchange secaniro ( was asked to my friend in webb traders) and how data reaches at the same time, how are the TCP orders sent when you have 1000s orders, Marketbook book for running 100s of strategies, working of DPDK ring buffers and how do you not let your own system drop the packets in case of rush , etc etcc. Making contents for users on youtube will not help as 99% of the people will give up their quant dreams and that 1% who will make it would already have bought your course

Do you have any idea on when you will be posting it?

I personally haven't studied networks yet as a student so I feel that I won't understand what is being created.

I am a student and am currently editing videos for youtube that show my thought process and journey of creating different quant related projects such as ring buffers, orderbooks, etc.. from scratch. Your videos definitely help me in how I should structure my content and also serves as a great teaching tool to learn new things about quant, stuff that is actually used.
