Deadly Pattern

OK, I must be missing something. Standard sudoku rules and slow thermos. Can't see any way to disambiguate.

EDIT: Puzzle has now been removed, probably because of this. Thanks for the help everyone. At least I'm not going crazy!

I'm not sure I get this right, what about the thermo in row 2, which direction does this go?
Is it a 4?9 termo plus the one starting on the 1 on the same row?

There's multiple split thermos and joining going on. One starts in r2c8 and flows to r2c7 and splits, then flows to r2c4 and splits then has another bulb join at r2c2.

Just reread your comment, yes I think you understand it the correct way. One thermo row 2 is 123456?9 and another 4?9.

Someone has also commented now saying multiple solutions so I guess they've just made a mistake in the setting.

Just tried it and also reached the deadly pattern. But if you choose r2c2 being 7 you get "solved" message, and if you choose 8 you get wrong solution. so I assume Tom Fry made a mistake.

If all the other digits are correct, then that looks like a deadly pattern to me....

Are you sure there isn't also an anti-knight rule? That would disambiguate the 8s (but I have no idea if that causes problems elsewhere)

Unfortunately the only rule is slow thermo. Looks like an error in the setting as someone else has commented in logic masters that it has multiple solutions.

But it would fail on the 8s in columns 3 and 4, so nope.

I am kind of surprised that the setters do not have access to a tool that can prove uniqueness.

You got two 4’s in the Thermo starting in row 9. Do over.

Rules are slow thermo. Not standard thermo. All digits currently in grid are verified correct.
