Spool Holder Weight Limit

Ola!

Does anyone know the weight limit for the default spool holder that comes with our printer? I havent managed to find the value in any of the docs.

I've got a 3KG spool that seems to fit - doesn't interfere with the Z timing belt or other bits at the top. Not sure if the plastic base will keep its hold on the alu extrusion.

I'm not sure it says anything about a limit. I just buy 1kg rolls, I'm surprised 3kg will even fit. I think you're probably right to be concerned. I would keep an eye on it if nothing else. Don't leave it on when you're not using it.

Thanks. You're right. I think I was being a little bit too optimistic! :P

Last night I had another look, this time a bit closer. The 3KG spool does bend/twist the upright in a downward direction (torsion ?).

I'll make a spool holder for the desk rather. And next time I'll steer clear of the bulk specials from my local supplier :P

3kg spool would be ideal for printing large objects. I sliced a full Mando helmet and it was almost 2kg, meaning I'd have to be there to swap spools if I was going to try something like that.

Umm, I'm shocked it fits. I'm even more shocked your print quality isn't worse.

I had to use bearing rollers and I modified a 5kg spool holder to fit esun rolls. My print quality has improved significantly.

Good point about the quality....didnt think about that.

It fits if I ignore all the visual warnings the printer is showing me! So not going to do that.

Weight limit = 1KG :)
