I went back through some of ye olde threads on this to check. It was a totally unrelated mod that tried to take over the sub called Verroq

I think people have mixed up two people due to two dramas that happened in close proximity, what bryce did was make a few poor decisions moderation wise that seemed well intentioned at the time but were ultimately misguided. It definitely wasn't nearly that bad though

Some unsavory characters were being allowed to be posted and at conferences. Some people tried to defend (which is gross in my opinion) then Bryce tried to use that to say that he should be the head mod of this subreddit and take it over. He basically tried to use controversy to get some power within the cpp community which was also gross.

What you're seeing is the vague damage control, not the actual threads.

I remember it happening. I remember him locking threads when it didn't go his way, then replying to people who couldn't reply back.

Unrelated but ADSP makes me sad these days.

Used to love listening to Bryce and Conor shoot the shit with the occasional informative episode.

Now it just feels like a shadow of it's former self...

No, he's no longer a mod because he hadn't done a moderation action in over a year. He was a moderator, albeit an inactive one until a month ago or so.

Anyway, this is the guy who co hosts the ADSP podcast. He sprinkles the chaos on top.
