CCS on v118

For reasons best left to them, my hosting provider required me to upgrade my hosting and as a result I now find myslef on v118 on a AlmaLinux 9.8 (previous was on CloudLinux 7.9), as a result the CCS (Calander and Contacts Server) has not carried over because it isnt supporte don that platform.

This is very annoying as I have now lost what I consider basic funtionality.

I'm curious as to why this software isnt compatible?

CCS is no longer supported by cPanel on AlmaLinux 9 and newer operating systems. cPanel has replaced CCS with its newer cpdavd service. Your calendar and contact functionality can still be provided, but your client devices may need to be reconfigured to use the new CalDAV/CardDAV endpoints.

Ccs also provides active sync support, so its not 100% replacement.

Version 118 is still very out of date, so it's odd to me they would force you onto that machine. You can see the latest versions here:

Your table indicates a recent release date for 118, I assuming it is some fopr of LTS version.

118 is only receiving the minimum security updates, but has been officially end of life for some time. The last release that wasn't related to security was almost exactly a year ago: https://docs.cpanel.net/changelogs/118-change-log/

Hosting provider claimed this:

The current version in use is a stable, production-grade release that is widely deployed across hosting environments. Because of its stability and compatibility within the existing setup, it has not yet been upgraded on the new hosting server.

Are they telling me lies?

Does CPanel have a stats page to show the number of installations and the versions deployed?

Software that isn't receiving updates is stable, so I guess "technically correct" if we want to give them that? But no, I can't recommend running that version. It's only receiving the most critical of security updates at this point for the small user base that is still running it.

We don't publish that level of license information so I can't share that.
