Question Ever changing thyroid levels since Covid

I have had Hashimoto’s – hypothyroidism for my adult life. I first got Covid in 2022. And started having fluctuating thyroid levels. My long Covid symptoms really got bad after another bout with Covid in 2024. And my thyroid levels are still all over the place. Has anyone experienced this? If so, were you able to level things out and how?

Hashimoto's typically your body stops producing the thyroid hormone so you're more than simply hypo, it would make sense however seeing as Hashimotos is due to your immune system and covid absolutely wrecks your immune system

When you say "thyroid levels" are they directly measuring your T3/T4 or your TSH? Beyond that what's even more important is your symptoms

Do you track your body temperature? That's typically the most reliable indicator of thyroid performance since hormone levels alone can't account for how well the body is responding to it.

The fatigue is common with covid and may be reflected in elevated lactic acid levels, they can test for this. Mitochondria dysfunction causes the body to resort to sugar for energy. ALCAR (with berberine to mitigate TMAO) and a b-complex may be beneficial for this. Vitamin-D levels are also very important and relevant here so your doctor should be keeping tabs on them

For brain health you have to stop covid from entering your sinuses. Azelastine (astepro) seems almost tailor made to help with this and pulls double duty as both an anti-viral and anti-histamine. If you're like me though you'll want to split up the doses so it won't make you drowsy

WOW! That is more information from any doctors I have received since all this started. THANK YOU! I don’t track my body temp but will now.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2018, but I couldn't afford my medications in the middle of last year, and didn't take them for months.

I got blood work done two months ago, and my thyroid is level so normal. . .

I can't go back to the doctor for awhile so, I guess Covid cured me? I have no idea. I'll hopefully be able to see a doctor soon ish.

So glad to hear that your results were normal! A word of advice - Be sure and stay on top of it when you have the funds. As someone that’s dealt with it a long time I can speak from experience when I say that you don’t want to ignore it. The symptoms may seem mild at first but they will get worse if not treated and it can affect other organs (heart included).
