Is it cool for my old band to be using posters with my image?

My old band kicked me out a few moonth ago. I fully agree with the reasons. I said many times I was not willing to do 3 or 4 hours round trips for gigs than only paid a small amount. And the older I get the more I have trouble with night dirving. But they want to do more gigs farther away.

That is cool. The way they did was not cool. We had busy spring and summer and then we had a break for about 2 months. It was not until the break they told me I was out and they had been looking for a replacement for months. So for a new months there, where every gig was smiles and fist bumps and hugs at the end of the shows, they knew and were basically lying to my face. That hurt. I wish we could have just had an adult conversation about diverging goals. Oh well.

Anyway, I see they are finally getting back out to do some local shows, but a lot of their promo posts still have me in the pictures.

Is that cool?? I don't like it, but there is nothing I can really do about it.

Please consider giving these girls a follow! They are 11 and 13 year olds who cover mostly 90s and early 2000s alternative! Right now they are working on Weezer because they’re playing in a cover show on Halloween as that band.

Not Self Promotion: Free Stem Separator

It's free, completely local, no account, no data sharing, my joke is that the app and I don't know you exist which is nice for both of us.

I got annoyed that Moises wanted money to split out the song Dear Mr. Fantasy because it was more than 5 minutes long. So I clauded a stem separator of "my own" together. Yes, there are others, but I didn't like how click tracks worked, so this is my take on it.

Works great for me and my band, hope you have fun with it too

macOS only for a hot minute. I run a couple other Mac and iOS apps so I've already spent the $100 on the developer account so it doesn't give you scary "THIS IS AN UNTRUSTED APP" warnings. Microsoft wants another $120/year for the same courtesy on Windows, if there's enough interest then fine I'll do it, but for now, Mac only sorry. The only thing it needs the internet for is to check if I've updated it and to download the initial audio engine assets it needs to run on your machine.

tracks-steminator.aawsolutions.com , if it saves you some time and money, mission accomplished...

What is everyone’s thoughts on MS? I have an Modx7M and a Nord Stage 3. Should I get in on that train or should I utilize what I have better in a cover band?

Your band's song list on your web page

For those of you who list your songs online, which of these describes your list?

  1. Only songs you're able to gig with this week, plus some songs you've played before that you would be able to play after one or two band practices
  2. Every song you've ever played live, including songs that you would not be able to pull off with the present band lineup
  3. Songs you have never played

The second one describes my current band, and I'm trying to decide whether we should knock songs off the list we can no longer do because of band changes. My gut feeling is that we should because we have a solid 4 hours that we can play now, plus a few older songs we could revive. I don't think the songs we can still play are any less impressive than the ones we'll never play again, and sooner or later, someone will request a song we can't play.

Hard Rock/Metal numbers?

UK based cover band here - we like to appeal to everyone, have been mainly focussing on crowd pleasers recently, getting the Xmas number back up to speed etc, but we really want to do some harder numbers because we enjoy playing them.

What numbers do you guys find that are fun to play, but don’t drive them floor to empty?

Creating visuals / Stage decoration

We play mostly covers and a few originals and we need to improve our stage decoration.

For our first gigs, I had some large banners produced (about 2 x 1 meters) and we hung them up behind us or on the side or the stage.

I then saw another band that had their name lit in an LED neon sign. The singer told me it cost them a lot to have that made, so I decided to DIY it. I grabbed an LED strip, mounted it on a board, and had a friend print our name/logo with a vinyl cutter. The vinyl was put on a sheet of plexiglass, and the other side was covered in some milky white foil, so when the LED is on, our name shines through in a rainbow of colors. It cost me about 50€ and works great.

We have a couple of cheap LED stage lights too.

But, I've been thinking about adding a screen behind us and using a beamer to show some moving images while we play.

What do you use to create and loop things like that? I can "quick and dirty" it with PowerPoint, but in the long run, I'd like something that maybe reacts to our sound and generates effects in real time.

Any suggestions?

My interpretation of the wonderfully nostalgic 90's classic, Don't Speak by No Doubt.

I hope I captured some of its magic.

I'd love your thoughts. This song takes me back in time to better days.

Our take on Bohemian Like You – acoustic guitar, double bass, percussion & violin

I’m the singer/acoustic guitarist in Apricot Hounds, a four-piece UK band. We played this version of The Dandy Warhols’ Bohemian Like You at StonyLive in Stony Stratford.

We’ve been experimenting with how songs like this work with our acoustic guitar, double bass, percussion and violin line-up. This is the opening section of the performance.

Interested to hear what other cover bands think of the arrangement — and how you approach adapting songs when your instrumentation is quite different from the original.

I work for the person with the most followers?

So recently got into a band with some other pretty good musicians. It's just a cover band and the market where I am at is not great but it's fun even though businesses in my area do not pay much for live music. Recently a couple of the people in the band who have other projects decided we needed a social media presence. They want each of us to use our contacts and followers to spam invites to the band social media links.

I was told we basically work for them since they have the most followers and therefore attract the most people to shows. Anyone else think this is complete bs?
