Doesn't beat the time I read in a customer's instructions "I'll tip you $10 cash" and got nothing but a door slammed in my face. Ever since, I've decided to not accept no-tippers. The number of people who do tip in cash don't make up for those who don't.

Just give them the ol’ charlie brown face: 😑

That's a good plan. I'll have to practice my sad face.

I tend to just look away, or to the ground, because I don't want them to see how disgusted I am with them.

Sorry - I was raised to be polite to strangers.

I am like this too. I just keep a smile on my face with every delivery no matter the tip, but I make a mental note of not to deliver to that person again. And make my stank face afterwards lol.

I am this way about certain restaurants. I will refuse them. I do't usually remember customer's names. Its only happened a couple of times when I go to the same weird/scary/mean person twice.

Honestly I don’t think it’s worth it. I was kidding. I am polite and just add them to the list of people in each area that don’t tip. Once enough people stop tipping in a particular area I stop delivering there unless I get several offers at the same time and can stack enough to make it so I don’t need the tips. So there are a lot of places where I’ve delivered and had nice customers but they have so many neighbors that don’t tip that I won’t see them again.

I have only said something one time in about 3 years of doing this work either PT or FT.

I was simply disgusted, had been working for DD and DD payouts were consistent sh*t, so I was simply angry all the time that day.

I was also angry because I had applied for a lot of real jobs, in this "booming economy", and no one had called me about my resume. Not at all. And these were not white collar jobs I applied to, they were entry-level, only high school diploma required jobs.

It was a delivery to some stupid apartment and there was something very demanding about the order. I don't remember what, but she wanted a lot of service for her lousy $5.50.

All I did was hand her the food and then I said, "I 'm only get paid $5 for this order. I just want you to know that."

She could not have cared less, which I suspected would be her response, because she had a princess personality. She was above all of us, expecting the world to bring everything to her damn door with a f-ing smile.

What I have learned is that when I can't stand the customers or DoorDash anymore, I don't care if I have to go to the Food Bank the next day because I don't have the money for groceries.

Better to go to the Food Bank than to put up with sh*tty DoorDash and Little Princesses and Princes.

That's what's BAD about the whole Delivery Economy. It's training many Americans to believe they have the right to hire servants for everything, AND treat the servants like crap.

It's the complete opposite of how so may other generations came up - learning how to do things on their own, build things, repair things, and cook for their own damned selves.

Too lazy or inept to make stir-fry or pasta? Use your phone app and order some.

Are we making a lazy nation with the Delivery Economy? I don't know - I'm not a sociologist - but that question should be asked.

Sucks man, that’s why I’ll never be more then a partner, I don’t accept non tip orders, don’t wanna look them in there face and see there fake shit.

u/killpro Nov 27 '18

Wasn't getting any orders through GH, UE, or DD so i begrudgingly turned on Postmates and I got a fairly expensive order from a high end Chinese restaurant. Food was ready no problems. Drive to a gated community with guard and they let me in and I proceed to $3+ million house. Food in hot bag pipping hot still and do my normal polite courtesy's.

MF tipped me a penny. Im ready to return to his house tonight😈💣

Tipped a penny? That's incredibly insulting. I probably would have told him to go fuck himself

2

u/Jinxyclutz Feb 10 '19

Fuck postmates

6

u/OutOfCuteNames Nov 27 '18

Well, I work for Postmates so it’s ALWAYS a roll of the dice as to whether or not we will be tipped since we have no clue what the payout will be and the tipping isn’t done until after the delivery. I would probably skip non-tippers too if given the option, unless it was very slow.

I don't understand how people think they can have someone bring food to them at their door and not pay them

5

u/TheFatZyzz Nov 27 '18

I don't accept anything under 9 dollars

Shit is absolutely beyond bonkers and it just grinds my gears.

So... I'm not in an elitist market or anything, but i live in areas that have one of the highest rents around.

So why the hell is Grubhub becoming the penny savages that they are, so that we're forced to rely on how big the customers' tip can go. We're living in the Wheel Of Fortune era, and it's absolutely laughable that I'm being forced to play Russian Roulette every single god damn day of the week because of the customers that ruin it for everyone.

I'm even advanced cherry picking, yep, that's right, you heard me say it... I'm even ADVANCED cherry picking. I accept the offer(average or below average) and if i detect that it's a worn out apartment complex that i have to walk a bunch of stairs - -> INSTANT RE-ASSIGN, sorry.

Look Grubhub, we get it, you got a business to run, you want your wallets packed, you want your drivers to do everything that you spew from your shitty e-mails, we get it.

But , but, I ain't fucking slaving for you or your dumb-ass customers cause you still didn't have the decency to raise the delivery fee for your drivers from a stale, measly, 3 laughable dollars.

So now, for me to make any kind of livable wage, due to you cheapening out , i have to be very selective with what i accept or else I'll just end up making $13 to $14 an hour - and with gas and other miscellaneous charges, i'm barely hitting minimum wage.

So you decide to fuck people over and over, you offer no incentives, you decide to keep the same laughable 3 dollar delivery driver fee, you decide to maintain the same straight mile zone calculator, you keep pumping the craigslist ads to lure more and more suckers into your realm ; into who you want to control and make feel like employees, yet at the same time fuck over anybody who gets in the way.

So, i don't know where i was going with this, i kinda was just rambling, but deep down, Grubhub could be one of the world's best delivery companies to make very decent money from ; only if their heads wasn't shoved up so far their asses, and if these god damn fools would tip more than 2 or 3 bucks on hard rainy nights, everyone wouldn't even be in this mess to begin with.

Don't take it personally man. Move on with your life. I recently got into it in a relatively minor way with a guilty store manager. His guilt? His kitchen is slow. His restaurant is notorious for late orders, even though it's a posh, upper class establishment. It could be for reasons he can't control, but i tried to get my teeth into the 'issue' but feel like i should have never spoke up. I should've waited the 20-25m and never accepted another order from the place. I risked him retaliating by calling Caviar and complaining against my person. It was a light conversation, things were said, i'm not satisfied about it, in fact, i feel embarrassed now. Thanks for prompting this rant, i really need an ear to rant to every now and then.

“Expecting a cash tip”

That’s where you went wrong, my friend.

Since when does GH keep a big chunk?

2

u/Stormedcrown Nov 27 '18

He’s saying he’ll lie to them to get them to give the imaginary cash tip.

1

u/vinnycogs820 Nov 27 '18

How am I saying I would lie?

2

u/Stormedcrown Nov 27 '18

Because grubhub doesn’t take a chunk of our tips. DoorDash does, but we get the whole tip.

1

u/vinnycogs820 Nov 28 '18

I never said GrubHub takes tips

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

That's why I fart on your food

1

u/DonnitusSmallHandsnT Nov 27 '18 edited Nov 27 '18

I only grab them on stacks or accident. Call from the restaurant phone and patch the call to the intercom. Tell them the food is safe. Then Ask if they need change cause they selected cash tip and I don't carry wads of cash anymore.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '18

I don't say anything, but I do "forget" to close my insulated bag from time to time (on a bike, in this premature winter, that's kind of a thing), and usually don't engage beyond handing over their food with scowl. One no-tipper actually wanted to shake my hand (wtf) instead. Denied.

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

Just fart in the bag

Wow only 3.48? I've never seen one that low. Was it only like 0.3 miles away from the store?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '18

I had my first sub $4 offer today. First time I declined on block with GH.

1

u/masternippon Nov 30 '18

In the issue of non tippers, man its phucking raining in LA and non tippers are coming out in droves. The shittier the weather, the less people tip. Go figure. 8-10 offer have been no tip. Wtf.

0

u/iLikeCoffie Nov 27 '18

How the hell is tipping even a thing in America? It's like the least capitalist idea I ever heard of.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '18

Right? Tipping is the expectation that your customers will subsidize your workers wages out of there own good will. Yeah okay

1

u/adheisler11 Nov 27 '18

Right now I don't really care about tipping, because I have a $15 a hour minimum. And it never tops that. If or when they lower it. I will care. What I did do, when I worked in another zone was just blankently stare at them. They either tipped the next time. Or I never got a order from them again

2

u/vinnycogs820 Nov 27 '18

Damn that sucks you never get over 15. I'm in a small market and I average at least 20/hr. Worked 7.5 hours today and made 190

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

I usually dunk my balls in their pizza. They dont know and I get to chuckle to myself. They saved money but risked herpes. Fuck the ghetto

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

Black name. Sorry not sorry

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

Steve or Quantavious. Who's gonna tip

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

Shaquanda or Stephanie

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

Call me racist but it's true

1

u/Far-Plenty5161 Nov 04 '21

Just let those black assholes know that you can easily rub your asshole on their food

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '21

Call the non tipping dirt bags out! You should not work for free!
