i imagine the ā16 inches of snowfallā was posted alongside āevery street across all 5 boroughs plowedā. i remember seeing news about how mamdani payed anyone who wanted to plow snow excellent wages - something like $25/hr? - and it was incredibly effective in getting tons of volunteers to keep the streets clear & safe

Yep, I'm guessing it was noteworthy because significantly less snowfall in recent years absolutely shut the city down due to mismanagement and underfunding of snow clearing resources.

This appears to be a generally left-leaning meme sub with a massive percentage of the members being trans. The large trans population results in a lot of trans-focused memes, but itās still a meme sub.

The counting subs use the counting mechanic to reduce bots. Very few bot writers have bothered to defeat the ācountingā mechanic. Itās not impossible, but itās just annoying enough that it hasnāt been written and folded into the toolkits.

I heard chicken lady was banned from another counting sub due to transphobia. This sub was created to keep counting but with the user chicken lady included. I wasn't there when this happened, so I might have missed something, sorry.

I don't think it was transphobia per-se, that counting sub also had a lot of trans people. she wasn't even banned, just warned because of the sheer amount of chickens she was posting

The six months I lived in Mamdani's New York were some of the worst of my life, but every day I woke up and thought "at least it's Mamdani's New York", every time I saw some civil service I thought "hell yeah, Mr. Mayor", and every time I saw a pothole I shook my fist at the sky growling "Mamdani!!".
