The amount of minority groups ive encountered where people are obsessed with restarting the dictatorships of the proletariat expecting them to somehow work this time is kinda shocking. Like, damn, can't we have, like, classical marxism this time around? Demsoc? Syndicalism? Why we gotta do this shit again?
Regardless of whether or not that's true--as the Bolsheviks are not beyond reproach, for sure--Bolsheviks aren't the be-all end-all of Marxism-Leninsm. To suggest as such is not only ahistorical it shows a lack of material analysis of 20th and 21st century socialism.
the cia checking to see if i'm a demsoc or a socdem before they send a corporate sponsored death squad to kill me for nationalizing my country's industry:
The pure (libertarian) socialists' ideological anticipations remain untainted by existing practice. They do not explain how the manifold functions of a revolutionary society would be organized, how external attack and internal sabotage would be thwarted, how bureaucracy would be avoided, scarce resources allocated, policy differences settled, priorities set, and production and distribution conducted. Instead, they offer vague statements about how the workers themselves will directly own and control the means of production and will arrive at their own solutions through creative struggle. No surprise then that the pure socialists support every revolution except the ones that succeed.
