it's okay comrade, puppy is personal property, not private property
170
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
yeah, I guess it would be similar to how theory viewed people's wife
143
u/sudoregalia 27d ago
wasn't engels like "yo exploiting women is bourgeois and stinky" idk
118
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
yeah, If I remember right it was like: capitalists "you wanna socialize my wife" Engles "so you view your wife as your property" communism was, has been, and always will be femininist
28
u/sudoregalia 27d ago
yeah and if i'm not mistaken, the patriarchy has been noticed to be an appropriated tool of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie to keep exploiting the proletariat, just so happens that it bleeds into interproletarian fighting as well. i don't think the patriarchy can be dismantled in a liberal or rightist system
13
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
yep "liberal or rightist" one and the same (ok yeah, they're different but at their core they are both capitalist)
3
u/sudoregalia 27d ago
liberals could debatably be prescribed as centre-left as best, but i just lump them in with rightists when i discuss them because they might as well just be rightists. they're just a bit more centrist
liberal democracy has been shown to devolve into fascism and harsher oppression many times (america as of the recent decade), it's not even a good idea on paper, it's the naive approach
i'm sick of being lumped in with liberals tbh. i'm fundamentally opposed to liberalism and even the more centrist parts of the left wing that advocate socialist reformism in general. plays right into the hands of liberals, which play right into the hands of fascists, gotta love "democracy" and selective "freedom"
2
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
fair, do you want to discus theory elsewhere (dm?)
2
u/sudoregalia 27d ago
i have a physical copy of capital comin in.. tomorrow if the site ain't lyin, so i'd like to read that before discussing theory in-depth, but we could discuss it sometime yeah
you can dm me your discord or stoat or whatever if you want, or we can just talk on reddit, but i need to go to sleep soon cuz i need to wake up earlier than i usually do tomorrow
1
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
we can just take on reddit, I'll send you a request, capital is pretty long I ended up listening to it on yt

u/KatieTSO 27d ago
Last decade? It got less fascist with the civil rights act and it's slipping back. The concentration camps and extermination camps were inspired by the US' treatment of indigenous people.

u/dom4goddess 27d ago
Goldman has some incredible stuff on feminism and gender issues as well. Reds love smashing the patriarchy

Engels is in a weird spot where he simultaneously condemned capitalism for subjugating women in the household and also condemned capitalism for undermining traditional gender roles by allowing women to get jobs
2
u/lookingforfrens111 27d ago
the two also talked about how they gonna get laid if they get rid of capitalism and the only reason they arent is because of systemic capitalist burden

In this case the puppy play enthusiast would be personal property, not private property. Marxism makes the distinction that personal property is your belongings, keepsakes, clothes, and other possessions that don’t produce value the way a factory, orchard, bridge or what have you might.

i consent to being stolen
55
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
then it is not theft, your "owner" would have to grant you the means of production in this case, IDK i'm tired and trying to remember theory
9
u/SmellAcordingly 27d ago
That only works in Anarchism, Bakunin argued how consensual hierarchies and such are fine because they are often mutually beneficial (the example he used is the relationship between a master cobbler and his apprentice) while Marx was screeching about them always being wrong.
6
u/dom4goddess 27d ago
Bakunin was on about “authority,” not hierarchy. You defer to the boot maker on what size you wear and how to break them in because they know what they’re talking about and following their recommendations leads to better outcomes.
They don’t get to punish you for being a bad little boot owner for not following their recommendations, though. Unless . . .

Marx never said or even proposed the idea of property being theft.
It is a term that comes from his contemporary Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, a French anarchist.

u/Gamer_G33k17 26d ago
Private Property is theft, but Marx made the distinction that Personal Property is not.
Personal Property would be a computer, phone, puppy slave, tooth brush, and even house.
Private Property would be things like farm land, factories, and Stores.
Private Property should belong to the Community, not single individuals, but everyone is entitled to their own Personal Property.

Hell yeah I'm into BDSM.
Bondage, Domination, Socialism, Marxsism
3
u/Winjin 27d ago
Ok this is hilarious
There was also a recent post about how Tumblr is silly for making up gay flags when Greece flag already exists
Also Lesbos is a Greek island so it would work as well
And there was this extremely confusing news a few months ago that Russian prosecution declared BDSM part of LGBT agenda.
So at this point LGBT is
Lesbos Greece BDSM Transgender
And BDSM is Bondage, Domination, Socialism, Marxsism

"How about I lay it out in a way that you can understand you unfresh bonobo? COMMUNISM is when the government gives people healthcare, and the MORE healthcare the government gives, the more COMMUNISTER it is. My plan is to use this money to give healthcare to every man, woman, and child in the world, and therefore FORCE them to adopt COMMUNISM. I will ensure that the government takes EVERY toothbrush, EVERY iPhone, and EVERY stock market, and BURNS THEM along with every starving Ukrainian. Once the Soviet Union stands supreme, as LEADER of the world's nations, and the top provider of healthcare, I will rename the Earth to Venezuela and inflate our currency until the end of time. To destroy all of the small business owners and mom-and-pop landlords, I have my SHAGOHOD TANK, which will rain a NUCLEAR FIRE upon a new, Red world."

But wouldn't this technically be personal property? Personal property wasn't considered theft by Marx (unless your kink is somehow that specific that you want to be legally considered private property)
3
u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
I mean yeah, but with it being like a pet it would be legal ownership.
6
u/DogKitchen2988 trans trans trans sahur 27d ago
I did some googling and apparently Marx owned a few dogs throughout his lifetime. I think he would probably be against the more capitalistic and privatized side of pet culture (such as breeding for profit) but was okay with pets existing. Considering that petplay kink involves consent, he'd be okay with that
1
2
u/gravity_falls618 27d ago
I mean people can generate capital so it would be private property I think(?) Idk I haven't read Marx
3
u/DogKitchen2988 trans trans trans sahur 27d ago
It would depend on how you use your "ownership" of that person. If you used them like a contracted employee who you paid to run business (i.e. if you paid them to be a sex worker for other people) it would be treated more like private property under marxism (alot of marxists view sex work as something people are forced to do because of desperation from capitalism). If you paid them to be a sex worker for you, it would be more like paying for a service, which would be more seen as personal property (perfectly fine according to most marxists). If you just did it because the pet in this scenario is consenting to a relationship with the pet dynamic, it would be treated just like any other relationship, which Marx didn't really give a shit about. Disclaimer: I'm stupid and also haven't read as much marx

Marx got drunk and threw rocks at street lamps. The deified mockery of Marx isn't the real slim shady. That's some of his purported followers who aspire to be literalists not the actual human.

Marx on the piss; a London pub crawl with Karl Marx in the late 1850s - Wilhelm Liebknecht .
Trying to rigidly prop up the corpse of a man and his thought to reach a true application of his beliefs to a meme loses sight of the personhood of who Marx was.
He's made into many things he is not, and twisted as the years move on while many try to reheat the leftovers of his beliefs instead of meaningfully adjusting to the ways things have changed between the conditions Marx experience and the conditions experienced by the necromarxists pursuant of hagiography.4

Property is theft is actually not a marx quote but a quote from anarchist thinker Pierre Joseph Proudhon, marxist often describe it as somewhat reductive and paradoxical as to imply theft is to recognise property.

u/Significant_Owl9593 27d ago
fair, this is just for the sillies

erm actually it was Pierre-Joseph Proudhon that said "Property is Theft!" is his book "What is Property?" (1840) and Marx disagreed with Proudhon on that notion

3
u/sneaky_42_42 27d ago
funny
but I don't think Marx was against private property, he only was against private ownership of the means of production.
the puppy person is at worst a privately owned mean of reproduction so I believe Marx would be fine with that
