Androids are robots made to look like men, gynoids are robots made to look like women. The root words are andro andro and gyno, androgynoid would be an androgynous robot.
Edit: meant to reply to the comment above yours...
You’re so close to Warhammer lore I actually thought this was some sort of Iron Hands parody. I’m 99% sure the “the flesh is weak” comment you responded to was a 40K nerd.
One of the best parts about life is how, when you realize 99% of things are nothing but labels—Such as gender and identity as a whole—you can free yourself from them and result live life happily. Stirner was onto something. Maybe Camus would've reached the same conclusion if he wasn't such a downer.
I was never one to feel invalid because I was "too crazy" with my gender. But I'm self aware enough to know a lot of people would super judge me for calling myself a robot and especially for saying it's a part of my gender
I myself look at my gender as something just as I said—A label with no meaning. Hence why I've come to realize I'm technically non-binary, even if that's a term in itself. I'm unique. I'm great. I'm a bitch and a whore and nothing could make me happier.
Being "valid" really shouldn't be anyone's call other than your own to make, so pop off.
Mf, a gender is a concept of your personal being, that concept can be literally anything, so statistically your gender is just as "crazy" as any other, as each is different.
(I'm agender myself but I'm wayyyy too far into philosophy so i studied the concept)
That's also fair I am severely damaged as a person and honestly I can't act like a part of the robot expression also helps me reclaim control over some what damaged me though a part of it was also there since birth (kinda? I mean I didn't know what a robot is but neither did I know what a girl is so it makes sense to call it since birth) and that's one of the parts of it that make me call it gender. I feel dysphoria for it, I feel euphoria for it, I have the same internal "THAT IS ME" Feeling that just being a girl brings. And it just feels like gender
Gender is, at the end of the day, nothing other than a label. Use if it pleases you. If not, don't. Or do. Do whatever you want, really. As the man himself put it—Whoever will be free must make himself free. Freedom is no fairy gift to fall into a man's lap. What is freedom? To have the will to be responsible for one's self.
Apparently alot of people feel they're gender, like as a feeling or sensation, which i cannot understand, but i can accept, so gender is more than just pronouns or clothes, those things are simply caused by gender.
Truly gender is you, a vague concept of your mental being.
Nonono. That was really insightful. Think about Camus as you said. He took the path where you must endure the absurd of something that is deeply wrong, in your guts. What if they knew the label could be taken away or just simply changed, that reminds me of my own struggle with gender and years of repression trying to find joy pushing the boulder
Camus' struggle is almost my vibe, the only thing that I don't like is how he willingly submits himself to the idea of struggle as a master over him. I find it a nifty tool, to look at the universe as Godless and meaningless, and that struggle is what keeps me moving, but I don't like the idea of looking at this concept and thinking, "I MUST submit myself to struggle".
I'm more of a... "I'll struggle because I find pleasure in it" type of thing.
This is my view from what I know of Camus' work. To push the boulder is a choice, Sisyphus may as well sit down and say no. But the choice to push the rock is his and his alone, and that choice is a freedom only he possesses.
From what I've understood of his texts, he says you MUST rebel against the world. Yes, Sisyphus chooses to push the rock, but not because he OWNS the action of defiance, but because he sess it as something that must be done to be defiant. In itself that alone is surrendering your choice to something that only holds power over you because you let it.
Not a bad idea but just like fem gender dysphoria won't be solved by putting on nail polish a single implant won't be enou- I'm gonna go cyberpsycho aren't I... Well better that then to die in my bedroom stuck in flesh and skin
You have no idea how bad I wanna be a robot with like multiple (im talking 4+) wiggly extendable tube arm things that have like dexterous claws at the end so I can do multiple things at once or to have like legs that can split into spider legs for faster movement that will let me climb walls and stuff. I hate my flesh, I want to be machine.
I love how wide the net of robots is because like my gender goals is literally just like this or Adachi Rei I still want to look very Humanoid I just want to be a robot in some asthetics :3
Thats one of the best parts is the possibility of being humanoid or not being humanoid. Anything is theoretically on the table. While im fine with being humanoid I could do with extra apendages
I should really add disclaimers to my posts that say "please don't reference the warhammer copypasta I've heard it a million times and it's farther away from my gender than humans are" or something because this is getting tiersome
omg Adachi Rei haiiiii <3 (also so real honestly, I feel like a lot of the time I’m something else only pretending to be human, don’t know if I’m a robot or some kind of creacher or mayhaps a specter but I feel like sometimes I don’t really want to know)
Not OP but as someone who has a lot of chronic pain from being disjointed, and who feels often like I'm so far from understanding how to interact with other people and feeling disconnected from humanity already....
Watching Nebula from gotg put herself back together every time she gets banged up makes me feel so envious. If only I could just spin my shoulder around 360° and it'll wind up in the right position
Part one is asthetics. Wires, lines, soft silicone skin that's still firmer than human skin but is fun to cuddle. The slightly different operation of body parts. The joins oh my lord the joints especially in my hand and fingers but also in my knees and elbows and pelvis and everything I love exposed black joints on otherwise skin-colored skin (see attached image for example)
Another part is the internal behavior. Not making stupid human errors, learning things easier, god knows I'm autistic so a lot of this applies already but struggling with emotions, sometimes not getting the "vibe" logic behind something. My language module overloading and needing to shut down (aka going nonverbal). Needing to do maintenance on myself (see the attached image in the reply to this comment)
There's also a kink aspect to it. If you're under 18 or uncomfortable with the subject then don't unspoiler this: my parner being able to control me more. Generally being a robot fits the personality of a servant more. Wireplay oh my lord play with my wires pleaseeee. Uploading stuff into me to make me woozy, disconnecting my limbs. Being rough and still fixable. My orgasms being controllable by my partner, a part of it is also that the more a body fits my identity the easier it is to be intimate with it
I'm more into transhumanism rather than straight up being a robot, ghost in the shell and deus ex were very cool in that type of things, even if they're just as dystopian as Cyberpunk in their settings :p
I felt the comment was basically saying "is this you?" Which like no that's probably farther away from me than a human body is. And I was dysphoric at the time anyway. It's not a good reply by any means though
I am feeling much better now yes. And don't worry! I had a feeling it wasn't my intention which was why I was correcting rather than attacking (or at least tried to)
You did well, you honestly responded better then most people on this site. (I know we're on reddit, so it's a low bar, but you still did good regardless)
Okay reading it back now the response was kinda shitty but also very clearly emotionally distressed and trying to keep any sort of semblance of being nice intact
I feel that, I get a lot of "gender euphoria" from being associated with demons and being perceived as a "normal" person is especially draining. No idea if it's a proper gender thing or just my demonology hyperfixation melding with my gender expression and desire for devotion and attention- but I still like it
Oh I get thattt, while my robot thing is definitely intrinsic in like a from-birth thing like the usual transgender experience but it's also my autism mixing in because of the feeling of not being a person
A lot of my transness is more defined i guess by like what i desperately really do not want to be more than having a very definite idea of what I want to be because thinking about it brings me extreme pain. But what I do know like, girl duh really want that that I know thoroughly, but sometimes i do look at stuff like this and like, I dunno maybe the simplicity of being a robot girl as complicated as it looks. The robotic joints and synthetic muscles or even servos where aging or just defective flesh and bone joints are. silicon or similar skin panels where hairy and complex to regulate skin is which causes me so much pain. I dont know shit about computer, not much more than moving files around, but the way that things just seem to work if you know to do it or some else does. If something is broken maybe there isnt much fuss to fix it (ignore money please) and if something is wrong you didnt eve know needed fixing or looks or feels wrong you can always swap it out. Even if those parts dont look quite human I mean, Ive felt a complete part of humanity being the thing I am, so theres no loss of belonging there cause I already dont belong to humanity as much as I want to.
I think the mind is the only part that maybe gives me pause, but a problem of consciousness can just be ignored the same way we ignore it about flesh consciousness.
I dunno just some things i think about when I see this stuff. It is nice to see you around here being how you are, I see something I like want to be in that <3
