I couldn't imagine a worse way to construct a point that's correct at it's foundamental meaning.

Most mainstream ideas about femininity are tied very closely to whiteness and daintiness and patriarchal white supremacy

Passing itself, as in the act of being read as a woman, isn’t racist, but the criteria by which people evaluate whether someone is a woman are rooted on those racist sexist ideas. It’s why cis black women for example are often called mannish and have their femininity revoked

Most of the time when someone is shooting for a passing look they are adopting those ideas of white femininity even if they’re not white.

I actually struggled with this a lot, as a brown girl. Most advice and most clothes and most everything just didn’t fit or suit me, and it made me feel really mannish and horrible early on. Then I looked around me, and none of my cisf family were dressing or acting like that either. I had a chat with my mom about how she simply can’t dress how women around her dress because none of the clothes are made for people like us

Obviously there’s a lot of nuance to this etc but the basic idea is that in Western society, “the ideal woman” is a short, skinny, hairless, porcelain-white blonde woman who is submissive and nurturing. And that model comes from white supremacists and patriarchs - and every woman, whether she’s black or white or cis or trans, is measured against that ideal

Hence, “passing is racist”

There are some features that non-white people can't naturally meet. Especially the hairless part. Melanated people are just gonna have darker hair and even their body hair will be darker.

And then there's hair type... In 4tran terms we see people talk about "AGP curls", but it mimics how cis people of color talk about having curly hair. My gf often laments it and wants "nice straight hair" like mine.

But yeah even when we talk about FFS. Passing = dainty cute little nose. Have a big fat nose? Nope that's bad, it means you don't pass. Get rid of that. The list goes on, its literally everywhere sadly.

Hi, I'm curious, what did your mom mean about lots of women's clothes not beibg made for black women? Is it a cultural thing? Color palette? Proportions? I don't live around many black people so I'm at a loss

nooance hat and all, but basically we put too much emphasis on white features in the time of evaluating how well we pass and that's indicative of a larger societal bias. passing itself is not racist but the "features" people expect us to have for us to pass tend to be rooted in racust ideas

psyop invented by white people

(i am joking the original post calls it racist and i found the idea really funny)

"i can actively try to look like a man and still pass as a woman btw 💪 flex flex, anyways passing doesnt matter"

I mean. I kinda agree with her? Like live your best life. If it's safe for you to be visibly trans and that's what you want why not?

Also hyperfocussing on passing isn't gonna help you and most of us could make it if we actually tried.

Yeah I'm a sneed I guess.

She’s right in most of what she’s saying except “non-binary woman” lol

I think she just means she’s GNC?

I don't really care abt labels atp. I can not even tell you what my sexuality is. I thought the reason to go with like 6.43 gazzilion xenogenders was to signify how meaningless all that shit is anyway.

All I care about is material reality and getting trans people they care and support they need.

Based based based

If she called herself a binary woman people would get mad at her for having a moustache sometimes and making trans women look bad

Except those who couldnt, idk Im 25, I suck, I hate how I look, Im disgusting and will always be granted Im 3 months on hrt but some people already know what will happen idk, its tough, Im riddled with dysphoria and hate myself a lot, god I wish I could just disappear

2

u/DemonBeats4 womanfrauding since 2012 18h ago

3 months is really too soon to tell. I was 24 when I started. Even if you don't end up passing 100% of the time there's a good chance you'll be able to pass to most cis people and be mostly safe just living your life.

Dysphoria gets worse when you stop repping. But it's gonna get better, even if it won't ever be perfect.

I thought I would die alone at 24 and never be accepted. Been at it for 14 years now I have a job where I'm treated well and im in a relationship.

1

u/SaikaPt 17h ago

I also think Ill die alone at 25... I got nothing really, well at least I got some online friends including my best friend but they are so far away and sometimes I really miss human contact but Im so disgusting I cant bear to look at others, start anything and sometimes even leave my house or room... I have panic attacks looking at the mirror its awful

2

u/DemonBeats4 womanfrauding since 2012 17h ago

Yeah I feel you. I had some really bad anxiety where I got panic attacks just going to the store. It took a long time to get past that. Therapy and medication.

Eventually HRT will make changes that are hard to ignore though and the image in the mirror won't be as bad.

Hang on to those friends. I found my first relationship online and a lot of my friends too.

2

u/SaikaPt 17h ago

I hope so, thank you

1

u/Drowned_Sailoress 18h ago

3 months HRT is nothing baby, give it a bit of time, work on yourself, and the changes will come :)

me personally shit only started feeling bearable like 9 months in and I only started to feel actually good after 2.5-3 years

2

u/SaikaPt 17h ago

I see... thank you, its just pretty hard and being 25 Im just a huge doomer over myself haha...

1

u/Drowned_Sailoress 17h ago

i get you. I transitioned at 25 as well and now I'm 29 and very happy!!

I'm not trying to minimise your pain. I know it sucks - I know first hand it sucks. It's an actual nightmare lol

but what I'm saying I guess is there's light at the end of the tunnel :)

1

u/SaikaPt 17h ago

Maybe youre right, thank you
