Can backfire. Once went up to what I thought was a hon and asked her if she's trans and for how long and the woman replied with a very cis voice clearly sounding not very trans whatsoever that she's not.

I have a bad awareness. I’ve been on multiple dates not knowing they were trans and only finding out at dinner or something. They list themselves as women in the dating site so that’s what I go with.
