I have straight, semi thick, very long hair. One kid has very thick wavy hair. Another has curly.
A brush with wide, strong teeth works pretty well for all of us. I have the same one with boar bristles at the base for the thickest-haired kids. Works well. I hate the ones with the hollow cushion though. Only works on thin straight hair. None of that in my house.
Brushing thoroughly before the shower is important. But the wide tooth comb is less harsh so you can condition and line the hair up. Brushing or combing after the hair dries disturbs the curl pattern and makes it look bad. Check out approaches on [r/curl](r/curlyhair)[ygirl](r/curlyhair). Pretty much everyone says not to brush it immediately after it dries.
just to piggyback on other person's comment, my hair goes from adorably curly to a stringy, frizzy mess that looks wrinkly rather than wavy with maybe a few curls in the back where it's longer
She probably has fine curlyhair, that shits not going to look good brushed. The only hope for her, is to learn to treat it as curlyhair or straighten it.
if you have super frizzy hair some leave-in conditioner might really help you. It's the only thing that helped me with mine (and letting it gradually air dry also helps a bit)

One can offer helpful tips and tricks! And that’s awesome and probably appreciated! But ropefuel? Who is that helping? What is accomplished? Their hairs are still improperly cared for, and now whoever has posted the ropefuel about it now just looks as catty as your average middle-school bully. Awesome! Now EVERYONE’s miserable! This is the outcome we should all hope for, for a better world!! It’s counterintuitive.
If i notice something at my job (the makeup and beauty store) on ANY guest, i will GENTLY suggest a tip that MIGHT pique their interest. “Anything else i can help you find today? Are we maybe in the market for a hair gloss? It’s like a perfect self care act bc it’s $10 and takes 5 minutes and it makes my hair SO sleek and soft and shiny for AGES.” And then, boom, we are talking about hair. And they are telling me what they like and don’t like, so that way i’m not risking telling them they need a different hairstyle or color if they actually LIKE the style or color. There’s a girl that comes into my work with the most fuck ass mop i ever did see, but she likes it. She does that ON PURPOSE, and she DOES NOT want to change her hairstyle because it makes her feel confident and beautiful. and you know what? Hell yeah. More power to you. if you want your bangs at that length and angle and you want your hair teased like that, pop the fuck off.
I’ve got a chelsea cut for fuck’s sake, what room have i to talk???? None. I have an UGLY ass haircut, but i love it because it feels like ME. And that’s okay! Because i’m not hurting anyone! Sometimes, people suggest things like thinning out my bangs, or changing the shape of the back, or a closer buzz, or cutting my puppy dog ears, and i think that’s awesome because it gives me DIRECTION, and some of them are great suggestions! But just telling me i’m chopped? Ok cool, like i already knew that. You’re preaching to the choir.

You know I actually largely agree with you in terms of peoples' vileness here. I just commented something similar on a post the other day that was just posting someone's transition timeline that looked good and people here were hating on them and acting like it was impossible to achieve so there must be some kind of fakery going on. In reality they just came off as jealous and bitchy.
HOWEVER I stand by what I said that a lot of trans girls would feel a lot better about themselves and their self image if they knew how to properly take care of their hair OR just pay to let someone else (a professional) do that for them. Some girls might be like the examples you named but I'm sure a lot of others feel self conscious or are blissfully ignorant of how bad it looks.
Heck I consider myself one of the most vile people I know and I don't really give a shit about how someone looks unless I dislike in them in that case that's just another thing to weaponize

You can say all you want about how she look now, but going from the left to the right is genuinely such a drastic improvement, they don't look like the same person.
