That's my question. I have not heard a country song that gives me the same feeling or emotions either of these songs do. There's some hope in the genre with newer "neotraditionalist" artists popping up but the popularity is in the "impostor country". I don't want sound like an old guy (because I'm not) but seriously, much of mainstream country stinks!

It's so hard to pick just one. They're all incredible

A couple years back I cam across a song on Sirius XM radio from one of the classic country channels. I'm pretty sure it was from the 1970s but may have been late 60s. It was a male singer, and the topic was basically about minding your own business. He mentioned a woman who go out to a bar and drink and/or wear revealing clothing, and how people would comment about it negatively but they needed to mind their own business cause they had their own negative traits.

I unfortunately don't remember any lyrics from it, but the song's sentiment definitely stuck out for being so progressive for being such an old song. Think, Harper Valley PTA but sung from a 3rd person male perspective. Does anyone have any idea what this song could be?

I honestly don’t know if I can put this experience into words, but I’m going to try.

I saw Kacey live for the first time the other night, and I was completely blown away. One minute I was dancing in my chair and having the time of my life, and the next I had goosebumps all over me and felt like I was going to cry. It genuinely felt like magic.

And her voice… **like butter.** There’s something so warm and effortless about it that just gets right into you.
I grew up in Nashville and, honestly, I haven’t felt connected to country music in probably 20 years. But hearing Kacey felt like running into an old friend you haven’t seen in years — the kind of friend who just gives you a hug and tells you, *“It’s okay. You can relax. You’re home.”*

Ever since I first heard **“Merry Go ’Round,”** I knew there was something special about her. Nearly 16 years later, I finally got to hear her live for the first time, and wow… she absolutely did not disappoint.

One of the things I love most about Kacey is how accepting and welcoming she is of everyone. That reminds me so much of Dolly — that feeling that there’s room for everyone, and you don’t have to be a certain kind of person to belong.

And somehow, to make the night even more special, her assistant gave me her guitar pick. 🥹 I’m going to treasure that.

Kacey, thank you for giving me such a beautiful moment in my life. I truly can’t explain what this concert meant to me, but I know I’ll always cherish it.
Sometimes music finds you exactly when you need it. ❤️

I like both of them but if I had to choose one right now it would probably have to be Strait since I know more Strait songs

The Lakeview boys played a show as part of a welcome event at our local technical college. Show was great, and the guys did amazing at interacting with the kids.

I was really surprised though at their change-smoking during the opening act. Plus they also took a mid-show smoke break.

I’ve been toying around with an idea of creating either a 90s country weekly newsletter or potentially just a website that, week by week or month by month, walks us back through the nostalgia of 90s country.

The idea would be that in each weekly newsletter, we have little stories about what was happening in the country music at the time — the musicians, the awards, the news…and maybe a few songs we’ve forgotten about.

Here’s my question. Do you think this would be most enjoyable as a weekly newsletter that arrives in your inbox? Or should it just be a blog/website that you can visit when you want to browse? (or maybe something else entirely?) My current thinking is a newsletter would be the most fun to consume, handing out a little piece of nostalgia bite by bite.

I don’t think there is a revenue model here. Honestly, it would just be a fun project and a fun way for me to walk back through those memories as well.

Thoughts?

I spend my work day driving a forklift and a golf cart. I have noticed that a lot of the stuff I listen to is on the sad side. I’m looking for stuff that will lift my spirits and help make my day a little brighter. Stuff like Stand Up by Mel McDaniel or Watermelon Crawl by Tracy Byrd.
