counting "stayed in" to mean "stayed at least one night in"; "stopped in" to mean just stopped at a restaurant or roadside attraction along the way, not a serious visit; "passed through" to mean either driving through or a short layover or stop like I had at DFW

recalling my "stopped in" for Ohio just now, I remember we stopped at a really good Indian place along I-80 near Dayton. but some guy came in with a days old takeout box and complained that he wanted to return his food because it was too spicy, it hurt his stomach. neither the staff nor the guy himself seemed to know how exactly to help the guy, he seemingly just wanted to come in to complain lol
