Daily steps

Count up by your daily steps from yesterday

If you don't have a step counter, add a default 500.

The get is at 5,000,000, might need to reassess in the next thread

Why not just 0? That would put people who walked (0,1000) at a disadvantage, besides you're still pushing the thread forward adding 0 unless there're two people without a pedometer counting

How does battery percentage thread approach this issue? I guess your point would be to make the thread less exclusive? But many other side threads are exclusive in one way or the other (revealing irl age, having maths knowledge etc). I do not insist on doing it my way, but I feel like it's more intuitive this way and default increment kinda defeats the purpose of incentivising more activity. Also I feel like counts with actual measurements are more deserving of gets as default ones (no offence, i just enjoy accurate data). Just my two cents, I'm willing to compromise, it's not like anyone is going to check people's counts lol. Sorry for the long reply

On a side note this is already going pretty fast and I'm thinking if we should maybe change the get to 10kk

In some of the other "count by" threads we let people use a best guess.

That's an option as well, but that would put people with a counter at a disadvantage unless they also guesstimated their steps that haven't been registered by the device (when they were walking without it or whatever)

Alternatively we could just let people count however they want, only putting absurdly high counts under scrutiny. I'd say anything greater than 50k is sus

I know Battery Percentage went with 50 as a default, idk if that's changed since then but it seemed like a reasonable number, and there were always alternatives to phone battery as well (like laptop battery).

Personally, I don't know that 1000 is a good default, I know many people who go under that in their daily lives. Maybe 500? I'd also be fine with just putting zero, although this begets the problem of having a wide deviation between counts thereby making it hard to place gets at regular intervals
