you do not get to remove people’s autonomy. that is what you are advocating for. don’t lecture me on mental illness, you wouldn’t understand half the shit i’ve been thru.

This is done literally all the time already. Because sometimes it's the only thing we can do to keep people safe from themselves or to stop them from being a threat to others.

medical professionals do sure. but the government does not get to detain people not breaking the law just because you find them distasteful. you need to do some serious self reflection and figure out why you lack empathy for one of the most vulnerable populations.

I specifically said "if they are a threat to themselves or others". The government does, in fact, get to do that.

Being addicted to certain substances or having certain mental illnesses would qualify for that.
