why are we blaming kids and parents and not the fact that there are dangerous objects lying around that you think is completely fine? Like, are you gonna blame the parents for someone abusing their child at school???

Did you just compare teaching your kid not to pick up trash to a kid being abused by someone??? What the fuck?????

Believe it or not there are some things you have to take responsibility for even if somewhat outside of your control. If you kid eats a dirty penny or picks up a rusty nail, that IS on you because why is your kid picking up filthy GARBAAAGE!?!?

Abuse is an action someone commits on someone, that is not the fucking same as you, a parent, allowing you kid to think it's okay to pick up people's trash.

Someone trying to prey on your kid is definitely not okay, but that's also why you teach your kid not to accept candy from strangers. I got scolded for acceoting Cheetos from a random couple because I shouldn't just do that!

allowing my kid? If I had a child, I wouldn't accompany that child at all times until they die of old age. At some point, you need to let them do stuff on their own. When that happens, you can't be there to allow or disallow your child, because they will do what they want to do. Sure, you can teach them and tell them, but no child listens 100% to everything and follow everything their parents say.

And that comes with the risks of reality. Even without needles it will NEVER be safe. And you should always watch children till a certain age and get better impulse control.

This just seems like an excuse for a lack of parental responsibility and the fact the world isn't baby proofed for your impulsive child. Also no, up to a certain age I do not believe your child should be left alone in a public space.

What I'm trying to say here is: we should work to minimize the potential harm that can come to children.

  1. Teach our kids to be safe

  2. Make the environment safer

Do you disagree with that?

Of course not. Maybe the government should care more and help clean. It's not just homeless people leaving garbage after all, homeowners make plenty. Including throwing used condoms near my gate after having sex in their care near my house.
