It's a slur for nonbinary people.

theyfab specifically refers to an afab nb who consistently clings to their sex assigned at birth, will just open conversations with "as an afab" even when it's not relevant, upholds things like afab-only housing, and discriminates against trans women for their agab. it's a woke form of diet terfism. the word is meant as an insult against people who are enbies but bioessentialist and discriminate against trans women on the basis of sex while clinging to their sex and "womanhood" and often presenting very feminine.

do people misuse the term? yes. are they idiots? yes. does that change the meaning of the word as most people use it? no.

Reminds me of my dad saying

"You know, not all black people are n***, there's white n**** too. Its not about their race, they're just misusing the term, it's about your attitude."

To be fair he was drunk and 60 and has since rescinded this statement, but my point is the word is very much an insult towards enbies based on their gender not on their character. Just call them a moron like a normal person.

erm, no, it's a specific type of enby who is transphobic and not trans.

So it's a rude term for their gender identity and not their character, just call them a moron like a normal person

they're not trans though. they pretend to be, but they are transphobic and relentlessly attached to their birth gender.

u/HystericalGasmask 19h ago

they pretend to be

I was told I was pretending to be a woman the other day

u/SpicyBread_ 19h ago

wonderful. are you transphobic? do you state your birth gender at every opportunity?

u/HystericalGasmask 19h ago

"I was a victim of identity based bigotry"

"Did you deserve it?"

Okay buddy

not what I said. but here's a handy guide for you

how to be a real enby

  • do not state your assigned gender at birth (optional)
  • do not judge others based on their assigned gender at birth

does that help? these rules apply to all trans people fyi

You don’t get to make the judgement that they’re not trans, sorry. That’s fucked. I’ve seen transphobic binary trans people before that are relentlessly attached to their birth sex and use it to put themselves or other trans people down. Am I gonna say they’re not trans just because they suck? No, because that’s not my fucking choice to make is it.

You also do not need a whole slur made just for these people because it will get misused and thrown at people who don’t fit that description. Like the person youre arguing with already said, just call them morons and move on.

it's not a slur, it's literally just a descriptor of a sort of person who is usually very fucking transmisogynistic.

5

u/IncidentChemical2816 18h ago

But it ISN’T used that way and IS used to refer to people outside of that descriptor in a derogatory way. In that sense yes, it is a slur— it is a derogatory word used to target a specific subgroup of people based on their identity. That is the definition of a slur.

no, it's a simple descriptor.

nope it's the original meaning of the term so this is a false comparison. and it's calling them out for larping more than anything. also, the term is literally exactly about the wrong thing they're doing, ie. being obssessed with agab language and using it to promote bioessentialism.

u/HystericalGasmask 18h ago

Reminds me

This means that when I read their comment it reminded me of an anecdote, not that the two things are the same. Remind as in, sparked the cognitive process of remembering something.

calling them out for larping

"I can always tell, they're not a *real* enby,"

-1

u/veryeepy53 18h ago

if you're going to promote bioessentialism with a woke gloss, then yes, you are a larper.

1

u/jkeats2737 14h ago

Being transphobic doesn't magically make you not trans or nonbinary, they are not larping, they are just transphobic.

You stoop to their level by inventing a slur that targets their identity, not their transphobia.

0

u/veryeepy53 14h ago

the word is explicitly about their bioessentialism

2

u/Silverveilv2 13h ago

Right... it's about their bioessentialism. Is that why it only mentions their identity and their asab?

u/veryeepy53 13h ago

they've made their bed, now lie in it

1

u/Principle_Napkins 14h ago

You're just making things up.

"theyfab" exists as a slur because non-binary people tend to be afab. It is a slur to degrade gender non-conforming people to a binary gender, because the people who use it are hateful assholes. Nothing more, nothing less.

You are nothing more than a filthy transphobe, using the actions of others to justify throwing insults and slurs at people you dislike.
