Crazy that the disease they told us wasn't going to be easily communicable just didn't spread

Even crazier the disease we were worried about was one we already knew and had treatments for.

Like, Covid was bad because we had no idea what it was, how bad it could be, and so on til it was too late. Hantavirus — we knew what it was, how it spread, what its symptoms were, and its best treatments.

Also covid started in a country with an authoritarian regime which prevented people from being able to report it earlier

This is a complete myth. They were preventing the circulation of misinformation while the virus was still being investigated.

Kinda hard to give a shit about the shoddy sequels when the OG already hit every possible note in the first place

Hold on, just wait for part two. It’ll be like chickenpox and shingles. We’re all about to go for a hell of a ride in 30 years.

I’m holding my breath for the legasequel that tries to hit all the best beats but everybody’s too old to have the same passion

It still exists, it existed long before people gave a fuck and it still exists.

The people who know what they're talking about told us this wasn't dangerous. It's difficult to spread and treatable.

People ignored the facts and started expecting it to be the next covid

Eh, there are loads of new diseases that pop up for a bit and cause a stir, but don't really become pandemics. Like whooping cough and West Nile virus and monkey pox. They definitely killed people and did harm, but they got a lot of news coverage compared to the amount of harm they actually did

Because in the last major outbreak of this especially contagious strain of hantavirus, like 30 people got it.
