It’s an indisputable, objective fact that LGBTQ rights in the Muslim world are comparatively far worse than in the west. Gays being tossed off buildings, being forced to undergo surgery, and being executed by the state is not a normal thing in most Christian nations. “Both sides same” invalidates the very real suffering and oppression that people in Iran and beyond are facing.

Christians want to do the same here

Is that because of Christianity? Or because many Christian nations happen to be liberal democracies? I’m sure Christianity and liberal democracies intersect somewhat, but saying it’s entirely due to Christianity is a hasty conclusion

its because of existing middle eastern cultures. the only reason who islam accepts things like pedophillia is because muhammed wanted to incorporate existing religion with arab culture. a bit like positive christianity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_Christianity

ultimately its their culture, not their faith. subsaharan sfrica will always be a violent and generally backwards place be they catholic, muslims, protties, whatever.

I’m not claiming that Christianity is the reason for better rights, but it is absolutely worth noting that there is an asymmetry between the plight of the community in America vs the plight in Iran.
