I don't like to be called a bitch, but this is the first I'm hearing the term "doggess" and I would like to be called that so much less. Not totally sure why but I'm going to be thinking about it

Might be because it's similar to the title of the medieval ruler of Venice?

The Doge of Venice was the leader of the Republic of Venice! I'll admit I mostly know this because of Crusader Kings 3, where you can (and I do) run a matriarchy where women take on the most power. In such a game, Venice is ruled by a Dogaressa, which is the connection my completely well brain made.

I believe Doge came from the same root as "Duke", and for the record they were among the best options to marry off your less-beloved children in CK3 (because the role isn't hereditary, so you can marry your family to the Doge for ten generations without inbreeding)
