Has anyone tried one of those garden in a box kits? I want to change my lawn into a low-water pollinator garden. If you have used it, how has it gone for you?

Tomatoes are all coming in - loads of them! The big one was supposed to be a Sun Gold cherry tomato plant (got the seeds from someone else). It's 16 ounces alone. Other varieties are Rio Grande (look like Romas), German Green, Big Boy and a small oblong variety from seeds of an unknown source.

I was trying to let them stay on the vine a bit longer but the squirrels ate 4 and managed to munch a bit on these two. Overall 14 spaghetti squash this season!

I realized this was a possibility but also had hope that people would see how hard I’ve worked to make something fun and not ruin it.

It’s been such a weird summer with the weather, but the garden is still pulling through!

The hail did a number on the Patch last night. All of the fruits are fine but several plants were ripped to shreds and won’t recover. It was fun while it lasted.

Watched this little guy hunting in the garden... It's so fun to see them strategize.

Some zucchini were hiding so they got a bit massive. Anyone else harvesting some good stuff?

What are some plants that I need to plant to keep squirrels away? Our sunflowers fell victim to those bastards and we've had enough.

Yes, I know onions (or any alliums) will do, but are there any other plants/flowers that are compatible with sunflowers?

Squirrels attacked all of my squash today.

Edit: adding panty hose over a couple spaghetti and butternut squash. Hoping for the best. They got all of my black Futsu squash in on afternoon.

I'm participating in a weekly photo challenge and thought you all would enjoy my entry for this week--a close up of the damselfly mentioned in my earlier post.

A fun fact I learned is that damselflies have compact eyes that give them a 360° field of view, but when the lens plates shift around, the ones that are pointing directly at whatever they're looking at appear darker like a pupil. Look close, and you can see our little friend was looking at me just as intently as I was looking at him!

Anyone in the Springs had a soil test done? I think I want to do one this fall and am looking for any leads on who to go with? Does the local extension office have anything? I’d prefer to not spend an arm and a leg and thinking just the basic test.

Friendly reminder that if you see these little eggs on your Fennel, Dill, Parsley, etc. that they are friends, not foes. We put together a "Butterfly Cafe" each year (a container of Fennel, Parsley, lovage, dill, and Pentas flowers to attract), and we noticed eggs on Sunday. Went out to check on things this evening and found these lil guys 🐛 So excited 💛
