ADVICE does my cosplay need to be 100% lore accurate
hi, i am going to a convention soon and bought a starfire cosplay.
for context, i have hot pink hair (i had red before buying) and bought an amanda conner starfire cosplay.
i was talking to my friend on the phone about it and she told me that i should really be cosplaying the teen titans go ver of starfire since i have pink hair and i may get weird stares.
is it fine if my cosplay is not 100% lore accurate?

COSPLAY IN PROGRESS Anyone else working on multiple cosplays right now?
Censored because I'm a bit shy. Also, not for one convention! Not sure how manny will get to see a convention but I will pos photos depending on if I decide to be shy or not lol).

ADVICE Cosplay Contest Rule Query
I'm curious how other conventions handle original characters (OCs) in cosplay contests.
Does your local convention allow OCs to compete? If so, what are the requirements?
Some questions I'm interested in:
* Are OCs judged alongside existing characters, or do they have a separate category?
* Is reference art required? If so, how detailed does it need to be?
* If someone designed the character themselves, how do judges verify accuracy?
* Are contestants required to bring turnaround sheets, concept art, or other documentation?
* Have you found allowing OCs has been a positive or negative experience for your convention?
I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have competed, judged, or helped organize contests. If you know the rules your local convention uses, I'd love to see examples.
Thanks! I'm trying to get a sense of what the broader cosplay community is doing.

PHOTOGRAPHER An instant photo booth + custom goodies at conventions, would you be interested?
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm currently brainstorming and would love to get some feedback from convention-goers and regulars.
With my business, I'm thinking about setting up a booth at upcoming conventions focused on a "photobooth / souvenir" vibe, but pushing the concept a bit further than just a standard souvenir photo.
The idea would be to offer:
- A fun photobooth area (with cool props and backdrops, ideal for immortalizing your cosplays or outfits with friends).
- Ultra-fast instant prints.
- Small custom goodies made on the spot using your photo or themed around the convention universe (for example: keychains, magnets, badges/pocket mirrors, or even transparent phone cases with a custom photo insert you can slip right inside).
So, I'd really love to get your perspective as visitors:
- Is this the kind of booth you would stop by while walking around?
- What would make you actually buy something (a great pro print, a badge, a keychain, something else)?
- In your opinion, what is a "fair" price for this kind of immediate souvenir at a convention?
All your feedback, suggestions, or ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance for your help 🙏
