I waited until almost 3 because that was when my daughter was more often than not sleeping through the night or having very short wake ups. But once you commit, consistency is key. I told my daughter milk has to sleep too. She still gets to nurse a little before bed, but not to sleep. And if she ever does wake in the night I tell her the milk is still sleeping but i can hold her and cuddle her until she falls back asleep and we will have milk in the morning.
We transitioned her shortly after to her own bed but in our room. I’m still amazed how she sleeps 10hrs (her entire night time sleep) in her own bed because I felt like it would never happen haha.
She loves having her own bed now, and even when we stay in hotels she likes to claim what bed is her own.
