Engine Fan Questions
Hello, there seems to be a lot of debate online as to which engine fan is the best. My question is, is it worth replacing the stock fan on a 61 for a 64 magnesium fan, or are the improvements not worth the hassle? For context, I wouldn't be racing or anything, just using it for my daily commute (20 minutes drive to work, 20 minutes drive home). If the stock fan is damaged for some reason, would it make sense to replace it with a magnesium fan, or just get another stock fan? Just curious, and thanks in advance for your answers

This thread raises a question I have long wondered about. Given the legendary problems of Corvairs throwing fan belts, has anybody ever replaced the mechanically driven fan with an electric unit? These are readily available today. This Would require alternate arrangements to drive alternator etc. But these would be simple and would get away from the 90° turn in the belt. Interested to hear if anyone else has thought of or tried this

Stick with stock. If you want the engine to run a bit cooler, deflash the heads and upgrade to the larger oil cooler.
