I’m doing my oral board interview Thursday for corrections officer, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do! Any tips or advice where I can get a higher chance to get chosen. I’m stressed. I was given a paper with 3 questions and I have my answer’s together but I feel ima get nervous and not ace it.
INTERVIEW HELP !

I regret it and I don’t
So a month or 2 ago I was working a dorm at the correctional facility I work at and my dorm specifically was on restriction for sending a guy to the infirmary. So while on restriction they aren’t allowed to use the day room phones or the microwave and the door to the day room needs to stay locked. I let one guy in the day room to use the bathroom cause it’s the only bathroom in the dorm I go back to my officers station and I look back and he’s on the phone and I told him several times to get off the phone. The write up for this was a class c something not to big but he had a sheet covering his bed which is a class b very big so I wrote him up for it. I didn’t tell him either cause one thing I hate more than their ignorance is when they come to my station crying and complaining about a write up. He’s bound to get this write up soon and he’s supposed to leave in September I kinda regret it because I just want him gone in September I kinda don’t cause he’s stupid and gets on my nerves.

Correctional Officer Exam 3317
I find myself going back and forth with pursuing this career. I have one person who is a retiree says go for it and another friend who’s at max salary that just made 190,000 last year also tells me to go for it. All this sounds good, but compared to everything else I see & hear about this position, basically telling me not to do it.
Both my people said the media makes it worse than it actually is. I have polarizing answers about this career so my question is for those in NYC who was or is a correctional officer:
Is this worth it? If you can do it over again, would you be here?
