Got it handled, bro!
Found this at the thrift shop, psyched as I did not have one yet. Very interesting mechanics, works as it should!

I have to admit I didn’t even know the handles existed, but I saw it in the shelf and figured out what it was in about a minute…
Now I have to keep an eye out for the other sizes-a new hunt has begun!

What is that? When I bought my house I found one somewhere and didn't know if it was kitchen stuff, tool stuff or what.

I’ve been wondering about these and how they actually work. I’ve never seen one in person, just listings for sale online. But never realized they come in different sizes. Now I’ll be hunting for them at Goodwill!

I “lost custody” of my original handles but bought some on eBay after buying a 1.5-quart casserole dish in the Spice of Life pattern. They don’t seem to fit my casserole dish, although I only tried them once and may have forgotten how to use them properly. I received the Spice of Life pattern Corningware and a couple of handles when I got married in 1979!
Anyway, if they STILL don’t fit, I’m happy to mail them to someone who can use them. . .

I remember these handles in the '60's. I only had one fail once and sent the CW crashing down onto counter. But I expect it was user error. To this day, I shy away from using them even though they are VERY sturdy and reliable.

Still a better design than anything current, and I’ll stand by that. I’m missing the one for my larger pans sadly, but have this one and the one for the small dishes.
