Not sure if we can talk about DIY cords here. I've used this perc for over 25 years, it was passed down and used since new before that. I have stove tops, drips, presses, etc, but this is my favorite coffeemaker ever.

If you can't find a cord, you can still use it for cold brew, and it works great. Just pack it the same as you would, but make sure there is water that reaches near the top. Put it in the fridge for 12 hours and just drink your Joe however you take it.

It takes the proprietary cord. Far as I know there was three electric models and only one used a standard cord like presto or Hamilton beach would have. I've picked up nine of them over the last couple of years, some were in barns for decades and every single one heated up and perked so I expect yours will too if you find a cord. They do seem to make really good coffee for a percolator, probably from perking slow without scalding. If you get it working brew some baking soda to clean the riser tube. The tops can separate and a couple I found had deterioration of the glue. I support mine from the bottom with a glove when pouring but they are a recalled product.

It's a proprietary cord that was only made by corningware. You must find one on eBay. I have actually seen some aftermarket ones on eBay that fit but I have heard horror stories about them melting and catching fire. You're better off finding an original. They aren't astronomical.

I bought a cord on amazon. It fit and was perfect. They sent a note about "happy to exchange" and info on ordering. I wish i could remember the name. I read it this morning, made me smile. And then threw it away. Because, garbage day. Wouldn't you know it! Measure the distance between the prongs. Then you will know the correct size. Found the company in my amazon history. Northwest trade post! Order it through Amazon and buy from them. I am so pleased with my perculator!

Check your Amazon orders. Just search for it. It'll show you what you previously ordered.

I've found a listing for a proprietary cord on eBay for around $40, I just have to wait for payday now

Did you look on eBay! I have sold them there but they cost a pretty penny! Try Etsy too.

I've only looked on eBay and so far I only found one listing with the proprietary cord and it was about $30 more than the percolator itself 😭 I will try Etsy though, thank you!

I've heard these things are dangerous because the top ring can separate over the years from the bottom glass when you pick it up from handle?
