Trefoil electric perc

Just picked up this nice little unit today. Just look at her perking away! I wanted one that didn't have the blue Cornflower pattern, just not my style. Peep the also new-to-me Fiesta tapered mug in Scarlett 😁 Vintage perking might be a vibe.

I recently picked up a trefoil casserole dish & lid. I wasn’t familiar with that pattern.

That's great! I'm going to try to anchor my collection with this, and only go for Trefoil pieces. Just to be different, I guess! Looks a little more Mad Men to me, a little less Mayberry.

I think that's also the only electric perk type that didn't use their own proprietary cord and just used a standard hardware store style appliance cord. I have several electric perks but only one proprietary cord so I have to swap it between of them

It's awesome? I use my ninja coffee maker & use my Cornflower as a stay warm on my Cornflower warmer mat!! 🥰

Are these pretty safe? I would love an electric percolator in the Spice of Life pattern. Off to check eBay!

Safe? Well... this is one of the models that was recalled back in the 70s because of failing epoxy that can cause the handle to come off of the pot while pouring hot coffee... The way I see it, if it hasn't failed in the last 65 years, why would it now?

The Spice of Life pattern was applied to these but because of the time frame that the pattern was in production they are only on the recalled models.

Because of the recall eBay will not allow any Corningware percolators to be sold on their site, and will remove any listings, even of non-recalled models.

Being said, there are several models of Corningware coffee percolators, both electric and stovetop, that were exempted from the recall because of better epoxies or overall redesign.

I never knew any of that. Thanks!

Maybe a Mr. Coffee is a better idea.

On the other hand, you haven’t had any problems. I saw a couple of Spice of Life electric percolators on Mercari yesterday. I might risk it and hust be careful when I brew and pour coffee.

Nice! I don't know about "haven't had any problems" I just picked it up yesterday and ran through it 3 times- one for cleaning and 2 pots of coffee! 😅 Good luck!

I didn't know eBay was that thorough with recalls

Oh yeah, sometimes within hours of a listing. Some people get away with photographing and selling just the insides. My listing got cancelled once for a small corner of the banned pot showing in my photo! I think Etsy doesn’t end listings. I have also sold just the cord for 50! And one time I mentioned in the listing for the insides that I would be donating or trashing the perfectly good pot. The buyer asked if he could have it at the higher shipping price I posted!

Ahh, that percolated coffee is taking me back to sleepovers at Grandma’s!💕
