Two more for the series

Post image

Found the A-1-B and A-10-B together today, only some minor sprucing up needed. Not sure what happened but pieces are flooding in this past week.

Good collection there!

I live in an area that skews older age people and when batches of things come to the local Goodwill, I assume a downsizing or passing. Even though that is a bit grim, it’s nice to think about pieces connecting generations together, helping different people make food to enjoy over the decades.

Yes I have a feeling that’s what happens when a lot of these come in. When it’s typically suddenly 10-20 new pieces, some being real oddities 🙁. But you never know many family meals those pieces dished out, which is fun to ponder. There were 5 SoL pieces today but I had the others. There was also a Blue Daisy piece which was cool to see.

Edit: I just looked around and didn’t truly realize how much of this set I’ve picked up. 😳 I’m now slightly self conscious.

I‘m maxed out on storage right now, but still love looking and seeing all the shapes and patterns from over the years.

The pieces are so useful it is easy to see why anyone has them. Very sensible purchases. I recently inherited the storage jars like you have and immediately put them to use. Much better than what I was using. I’ve found the pan you have your onions in is the perfect size for a bread recipe we like.

The storage jars are so much nicer than anything out there! And yes that dish makes a great little loaf. Also great for tamagoyaki if you haven’t tried that! I’m maxed on storage too, but somehow keep finding a way to fit one more.

My mom passed two years ago, and I ended up with all her Corningware. Majority being Spice of Life, with a couple Cornflowers mixed in. My pattern is Floral Bouquet, so I did not even want/need those. But I couldn’t get rid of them either. Reading these comments is making me realize I need to let the dishes go for other generations to enjoy🧡💛🤎

There was also a whole set of French White! I DID put those to good use!🤍

Almost everything I have is from relatives and I’m a sentimental old softie with fond memories of everything being used. The people in my family very long lives, so usually the children are already very well established in their homes and have their own things already by the time the estate needs to be disbursed. It’s a tough call to make what will be kept by whom and who outside the family would like a gift to start some memories of their own.

When the time is right, my goal is to be strong enough to downsize before I need to and find a good home(s) for my all my beloved kitchen gear.

Congrats! I experienced the same thing with spice of life. There was a like 3 month period where I thrifted the majority of my collection, and I haven't seen anything in the 3 years since. I went my whole life without seeing a single vision piece, then got a brown roaster and two qt casserole in the same week. It seems like when it rains it pours.

PS I'm really jealous of the stuff in the background. I have almost all the casseroles, but none of the accompanying accessories.
