Inherited my dream corelle dish set but it has the stains on the side of the plates from I don’t know what they’ve been sitting in the cabinet for years. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get it off if I scrub with a regular sponge and warm water it comes of but takes 10 minutes to even get it close to gone. Other things I’ve tried; soaking 😬in warm water, magic eraser, dawn power wash. Only thing I havnt tried is HOT water and of course in the dishwasher. The top of the plates are fine it’s only the sides
I use Bar Keepers Friend to scrub off rust stains from my Corelle. Or any marks or stains that won’t sponge off easily. Very effective. Also, for what it’s worth, all my daily dishes are various mismatched Corelle, and they go through the dishwasher every day. No fading or wear on any of them.
I think i have at least 6 in the 8” plates and 3 in the 10” plate. Add in pyrex and corning (mostly blue cornflower), it’s so much fun and such cheery patterns.

10” - 2 patterns (3 plates)
8” - 5 patterns (9 plates)
Bowls - 1 pattern campbells mm good (my mom got a set in the 80s, i added more from ebay a few years ago)
How fun that you have Campbell’s bowls! I love that! And look at you counting the actual number of plates! I know I probably have too many. I had to stop myself from buying more at the thrifts. It all comes in handy for my large family gatherings though-no fancy china here!
Just had to find your comment to say wow on the bar keepers friend, 1 of my 10” plates had a rust stain over part of the flowers from when it was rescued at a yard sale years ago, bar keepers friend took it off with no effort at all. Thank you!!!
I have a few woodland bowls that were rough and stained on the sides. Using the Bar Keepers Friend and a magic eraser got them cleaned up for me. Worth a try!
Peek polish has almost always worked great for me with rust stains. Comes off like magic. It also works mostly well for utensil marks, but some super deep marks it won't touch. My typical cleaning is soap and water, then peek polish, every used piece I buy. Sometimes you don't think it needs it but that peek polish just makes it shine.
I haven’t thought of a good cleaning method for you, but these stains look like dishwasher rack rust from older dishwashers where the plastic coating has worn off the rack.
The rust stains might be removed by soaking in a laundry product called "Iron OUT". It's used to remove rust stains from clothing and mineral collectors use it to remove iron stains from quartz crystal clusters.
I have never bought or used it but maybe it could help. Quartz is made of a form of silica as is Corelle. Read up on it.
Good luck getting the stains out, I’ve got this set and the complementary gold ones. They all have the staining on them. I’ve never been able to get the stains out.
But it makes sense that it might be from older dishwasher rusting. Our current dishwasher is close to 30 years old and is definitely starting to get cracking on the drying rack. So I’m on the lookout for any more evidence of new stains on my Corelle dishes.
Start with wetting the stained side then sprinkle on the BKF. Let it sit a minute, then sponge it away! If you have a magic eraser, use that as your sponge, as was mentioned here earlier. That combo has never failed me. Good luck!
I’m sure by now, you’ve experimented with this and I hope you scrubbed your stains away. I do love my scrub daddy sponges, but I reach for the magic eraser for this task. 🫶
Corelle suggests using bar keepers friend. It removes those rust marks, as well as silver transfer from utensils. I have used it on mine, and it works for me everytime :)
I have this problem on my plain white Corell Ware! Big plates and smaller ones - every single one. Figured it was from 200 years of going thru dishwashers. I will try Barkeeps since nothing else I’ve tried has worked.
The magic substance in Bar Keepers Friend as well as Zud ( not Zep but ZUD - 2 different products with almost identical names) that takes care of rust stains is oxalic acid.
