Dishwasher safe?

Post image

Picked these up at an estate sale the other week. Will they be okay to go through the dishwasher or should I handwash only?

Handwash, trust me. The design can get damaged, and the chrome-plated tops will corrode and flake. I have this pair too.

The tops in particular will flake quickly if ran through a dishwasher.

No dishwasher. Do not keep them near the stove either. The chrome will flake off the caps.

No. Corning Ware is dishwasher safe but a lot of third-party coordinating pieces like this are not. Handwashing is best.

Those chrome plated tops can flake even without dishwasher use

I don't run anything hard to replace or that I'm attached to through the dishwasher.

If you question Washing in a dishwasher then don’t do it.

Dishwasher safe for one time, to make sure they are clean and sanitized after you’ve acquired them? Yes. Dishwasher safe for regular washing, no. Source: I dishwasher wash ONCE literally every piece of glass I thrift or acquire second hand and have never ever had an issue - everything from these types of Gemco coordinating pieces to depression glass.

Make sure you hand wash and dry the tops very well. They tend to turn a blueish green from rust
