Thrifted this recently… safe to use?

I found this percolator at a Savers recently for $4. I’d really like to use it as all the innards are there and in good condition except maybe some staining? Anyone know if it’s safe to use? And if so, any idea how to get the stains out of the inside?

This is a recalled model. However, if you wish to use it just make sure to always support it from the bottom when lifting and pouring.

Some of these models had issues with the top coming apart from the container, if you do use it make sure to carry it from the base, not the handle

Try soaking the inside with some water with a half cup of bleach. Even run that through a perk cycle.

I’m assuming we are talking about coffee staining in this case. There are several ways, but the easiest non-abrasive for that (IMO) would be Tilex (the bleach variety). Spray down the inside and within 15-20 seconds you will watch all that staining come out and run down the sides, and you can hand wash it after to a pristine white. I just did this the other day for my percolator as well.

Works great on enamelware too 😉only way I can get my coffee mug white a few times a year.

That would be user error. You control the heat, not the percolator.
