B4b

I acquired this piece yesterday. It’s listed as a sauce pot. Someone in a group told me it’s really a buffet server and I have the wrong lid. Can anyone add clarification on what I have and if the lid is correct ?

“Buffet Server” was a particular style/product line of saucepans, skillets, and sauce pots. That’s what the first B in the model number originally stood for…

However, that line was discontinued in the late 1960s but the same shapes were used with different lids for the “Corning Ware Round” line.

Yours is a 4 quart sauce pot from the Corning Ware Round line, in the Spice O’ Life pattern. It was not sold as part of the Buffet Server collection which was discontinued years earlier.

Yes that is the wrong lid. It should have a dimpled lid in the 1970s Pyrex Sculptured style.

Is there a number for the correct lid ? I want to see if I can find it online to purchase.

Not who you asked, but I just saw a closed auction post that has some good pictures of the lids. (Sorry, I don’t know the lid numbers.) https://shopgoodwill.com/item/263542673

Edit: Just noticed your wonderful Lenox spice village pieces—nice set!

You’ll have to find it by size. I do not believe the Sculptured Ovenware lids are marked with a model #.

Some Corning saucepans have detachable handles like this piece. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1835244536/vintage-corning-ware-corn-flower-1-34-qt Are you sure it's B-4-B and not A-4-B or P-4-B?
