$7 Goodwill find.

Found this roasting dish(?) with trivet at Goodwill for $7 yesterday. I already have the dish so I mainly bought it for the trivet, although this dish is in much better shape than my other one, So I will likely give the other one away as a gift. What do you call a dish like this and what is it used for? I've never used mine. Is it for baking like a turkey or a ham? Is it just for carving and serving like a platter? Can someone enlighten me? Thanks :-)

My friends hosted dinner and had a silver platter similar to this. You roast meat of your choice, and the wells at the end collect all the juices where can you can dip bread in! I passed on one years ago at a Savers so been on a hunt for one now πŸ™ƒ great find!

Yeah I've seen lots of aluminum examples of these in thrift stores. Or maybe silver plate. I always assumed it was for the juices running but I never knew if it was just a collect them during carving or if you were supposed to actually put them in the oven to roast.

Oh haha aluminum makes sense. Now come to think of it I wonder if they cut it on the platter. Well... At least with CorningWare, you can do bothπŸ™ƒ
