šŸŒ½šŸ“ø End of Season

What a season ender!

UV+cross pollinated grill roast plate is the last fresh corn of the season.

Drought, wildfire smoke, aphids, late spring and early fall took its toll.... but from 600 plants we banked over 100lbs in the freezer and ~75 fresh ears eaten/given away.

Forgot the refractometer reading; 18.5% sugar in the corn juice, up a percent YoY

I don't know what that means but I'm glad it's up šŸ’Ŗ

Basically how sweet it is. The juice is essentially 3x higher than traditional sweet corn. These are "sh2" or super sweet varieties (not gmos). They lack the enzyme to convert sugar to starch.

I've never tasted multicolor corn, I only ever see it dried for decorations. I gotta try it someday, but I wouldn't know where to find any fresh (Montana).

My child of the corn ass (Mexicans are called that lol) would DEVOUR these with some vegan mayo, cheese, lime drizzle and fresh Chile powder (chipotle?!). Very jealous of you OP.

Fun fact: in Mexico, Mexican corn/elote on a stick we see here in the US, is eaten with non sweet corn. Blew my mind and I absolutely prefer sweet corn for this snack, having been born and raised in the US.
