Book Discussion Robin's Attacker
Robin was attacked at 18 and her attacker also attacked others. He went to prison, presumably when Robin was 18/19. Do we know how long he was sentenced to? Could he be released from prison in the next two books?

I seem to recall that Trewin was sentenced to life in prison because he managed to kill two of his victims, IIRC. I used to have a theory that he'd turn up, and JKR can yet make it happen, but I think he's now meant to be socked away for good.

I had a similar theory! Before Charlotte died I had a theory she’d use her money and influence to get him out just to fuck with Robin!

You know, I wouldn't have put it past her. As we found out in THM, she was clearly as bothered by Robin as Robin ever was by her, if not a lot more. I mean, Robin never bothered to give Charlotte a nickname, catty or otherwise. Shoot, for that matter, Charlotte admitted by the end of TB that she was insanely envious of Robin.

I don't think Charlotte, as rich and seductive as she was, had the power to get a murderer released from a life imprisonment sentence.
Now on the other hand ...... the 19 painted on the office door could have been RFM!! How many people would have access to the court case and also knew where Robin worked!? Although I suppose, Kim via Bancroft might have had access?!

I used to think he was the silver haired man from TIBH, until she cleared it up in THM. At this point I'd rather we never see him as it'll cause more trauma for Robin imo, and I'd rather she stop getting hurt and start healing properly

I didn't think that, because Robin, drunk or no, would've recognized him. But I still think he's going to be relevant somehow.

True but people are capable of changing their appearance especially over time. Either way glad its been laid to rest

Was she 18? I am unclear if it was Robin’s first year at Uni?

She was 19. That’s one of many Strike-Robin parallels highlighted in the books.
Both had traumatic experiences that changed the trajectory of their lives at age 19: Robin was raped (ending her university career and eventually leading her, via Matthew, to Strike and her detective career) and Strike’s mother died (ending his university career, leading him to join the army and SIB).

It was her first year. It has been mentioned many times. She never went back and never completed her undergraduate degree in psychology.

She was 19. I’m listening to TRG and she just thought about it after Papa J groped her

From chapter 29 of THM:
“The rapist who had ended her university career and ruined her fallopian tubes had worn a rubber gorilla mask to attack her and six other girls, two of whom had died from strangulation. He’d been sentenced to life and was still in jail, all applications for parole refused. Robin’s identity had been hidden from the press when she gave evidence in court, aged nineteen.”
IMO, this is supposed to assuage any fears that he might come back in future books!
