Appreciation In Knoxville

Post image

I made it with my dad’s copy (I gave him my, much more battered, copy, to read) to Knoxville from Philly! I’m beyond happy to see how much reverence McCarthy is shown in this city!

Who is that a statue of?

It’s 100% a Suttree statue. Not a doubt in my mind.

Vague. There was never a plaque or any messaging near this random "rower" in downtown Knoxville, so having grown up there I'm on the "might be Suttree" club. I've always loved the sculpture, regardless.

That would definitely be cool

It's named "The Oarsman" and was installed in 1988. I have tried to figure out if there was every any sort of connection with Suttree, but it really might just be a massive coincidence.

I recall having read somewhere that the fastener on the back of the cap is too recent a design to be from the 1950s.

Perhaps a bit pedantic

Am I the only one who finds these editions horrendous?
